Haworth art gallery Accrington
Was given full permission of the curator and the local council to film Haworth art gallery from the skies
The Haworth Art Gallery is a public art gallery[2] located in Accrington, Lancashire, northwest England, and is the home of the largest collection in Europe of Tiffany glass from the studio of Louis Comfort Tiffany.[2] The museum, a Tudor-style house, was originally built in 1909 to be the home of William Haworth, a manufacturer of textiles. The house was designed by Walter Brierley (1862–1926, a York architect known as the Yorkshire Lutyens. It was bequeathed to the people of Accrington in 1920,[3] and stands in nine acres of parkland on the south side of Accrington Town Centre.
The Haworth's Tiffany collection is the largest outside the United States, with almost every type of Tiffany glass, including 140 pieces, including Favrile glass tiles, jewels, samples and mosaics.[2] It was the gift of Joseph Briggs, a design apprentice who left Accrington at 17 to emigrate to the United States,[2] where he worked for Tiffany for 40 years from about 1892. In 1933, he sent his Tiffany collection home.[2]
The collection is on permanent public display in four themed-rooms: 'Tiffany and Interior Design', 'Tiffany and the Past', 'Tiffany and Nature', and 'The Tiffany Phenomenon'. Notable in the Gallery's Tiffany collection are over 70 vases, including a group of 'Millefiore Paperweight' and 'Intaglio' or cut-glass examples, 'flowerform' vases, vases shaped like vegetables, 'Cypriote' and 'Tel-El-Armana' vases inspired by Roman and Egyptian examples. There are also samples relating to decorative schemes Briggs was involved with, and his 'Sulphur-crested Cockatoos' mosaic.
The museum also has a collection of mainly 19th-century oil paintings and watercolours including works by Frederic, Lord Leighton, Claude Joseph Vernet, John Frederick Herring and others.

Places to see in ( Accrington - UK )
Accrington is a town in the Hyndburn borough of Lancashire, England. Accrington lies about 4 miles east of Blackburn, 6 miles west of Burnley, 13 miles east of Preston, 20 miles north of Manchester city centre and is situated on the mostly culverted River Hyndburn. Commonly abbreviated by locals to Accy.
Accrington is a former centre of the cotton and textile machinery industries. The town is famed for manufacturing the hardest and densest building bricks in the world, The Accrington NORI (iron), which were used in the construction of the Empire State Building and for the foundations of Blackpool Tower; famous for Accrington Stanley F.C. and the Haworth Art Gallery which holds Europe's largest collection of Tiffany glass.
Accrington is a hill town located at the western edge of the Pennines within a bowl and largely encircled by surrounding hills to heights of 300-400m. The Hyndburn or Accrington Brook flows through the centre of the town. Hill settlements origins were as the economic foci of the district engaging in the spinning and weaving of woolen cloth. Wool, lead and coal were other local industries.
The town has strong local travel links as Accrington railway station lies on the East Lancashire Line serving trains running locally and trains running from Blackpool to York. However, recent changes to the train timetables have been a disservice to Accrington, increasing the journey time to Preston (a vital link to London or Scotland) by up to 1.5 hours. However, there are still buses to Manchester every thirty minutes as well as more frequent services to other towns in east Lancashire.
Accrington Library, on St James Street, is a Carnegie library that opened in 1908. It is noted for its stained glass window designed by Gustav Hiller and as a place of inspiration for the young Jeanette Winterson. Near the Tesco supermarket, there is Accrington Skate Park which is popular during the school holidays. On Broadway, Accrington Police Station serves the Borough of Hyndburn.

having not had much oppotunity to get out with the drone due to the excellent lancashire mill town weather (it wasnt a coincidence they chose Lancashire for the cotton mills, its because its always damp!)
I grabbed the drone and went for an early morning wander, met lots of friendly dog walkers, most people show interest in the drone and want to have a chat, and ask the usual questions, never met anyone who was hostile to the fact Im flying a drone & filming, maybe is just because thats Lancashire folk!
Illusion Prototyping
We've been prototyping a new illusion exhibit for our exhibition floor in Cardiff Bay. Our Creative Director Owain Davies and Senior Exhibit Developer Neil Davis were looking at the practicalities of turning it from a strong visual illusion into a working interactie exhibit so we thought we show you what they got up to.
