A brief tour of Házsongárd Cemetery in Cluj-Napoca

Many of Transylvania's notable figures are buried in the Central Cemetery in Cluj-Napoca, also known as Házsongárd/Hajongard Cemetery. The name probably comes from the German for Rabbit Garden (Hasengarten), though this is somewhat disputed. I hope you enjoy this short documentary I've made. Please also leave comments.

Historic Cemetery in Transylvania

On June 25th, during our trip to Hungary and Romania, we visited the Central Cemetery in the beautiful old Transylvanian city of Cluj. Known as the Hazsongardi temeto by the Hungarian citizens of Kolozsvar, this ancient cemetery was established in 1585. It is considered to be the greatest necropolis in all of Transylvania. As an architecture enthusiast, my main goal was to pay my respects at the grave of Kos Karoly, the great Transylvanian modernist architect.
