The Heavenly Queen Buddhist Temple, still under construction in 2016, is located on the banks of the Maribyrnong River, in Footscray, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia.
The remarkable transformation of a vacant Maribyrnong River site into a Buddhist temple complex began with a 16-metre statue of the Heavenly Queen. Made of stainless steel and painted gold, the statue was designed and constructed in Nanjing, China and installed in 2008.
The six-building 35,930-square-metre site was originally an industrial site, but has been remediated and sold to the Heavenly Queen Society. The site will include a memorial hall, souvenir shop, office, exhibition centre, drum tower, a secondary temple, bell tower, lake pavilion and extensive Chinese gardens. When complete, it will be the largest Buddhist temple in Australia.

The Heavenly Queen Temple is located at 2 Joseph Road, Footscray approximately 4kms from Melbourne CBD.The Temple precinct is alongside the Maribyrnong River and is approximately 40,000 square meters in area. About two third of the land will used as Chinese Garden and Car Park.
All buildings will be constructed in traditional Chinese temple style with red brick wall and golden roof top.
Heavenly Queen, also known as “Mazu”, Lin Mo Laing (A.D. 960-987) was born in MeiZhou Island in FuJian province during the Sung dynasty in China. At her birth, a brilliant light appeared in the northwestern sky, and the scent of perfume filled her home. She was given the name Mo (silence) because as a newborn, she never cried. At her early age, she demonstrated great intelligence with photographic memory, healing the sick and helping the poor people. She also acquired the ability to predict the weather, saving many fishermen lives at sea. Although her life was of short duration, her intelligence and life saving legend remained forever. After her death, people built a temple on the MeiZhou Island at the spot where she ascended to heaven and become immortal. This became the origin of all Heavenly Queen temples around the world.

Second attempt with DJI Mavic Air at Maribyrnong River Reserve area where the Heavenly Queen Temple ( of Melbourne is located. The temple is actually closed during sunset hours, I have to navigate pass through the main hall to get to the statue at the back of the temple. I can't even see the statue from where the drone took off.
