ITV News with Nick Shields & Cycle To Iran
Victoria Whittam came to film me on Tuesday 13th July at Calder Holmes Park in Hebden Bridge. Also appearing is Tony Upfold from Cycling UK who have been tremendously supportive.
Part of the package was broadcast on the Calendar News program on Sunday 31st July.
A big thanks to Tony Upfold of Cycling UK for making this happen and also to ITV and Victoria Whittam for coming to see me and doing a great job of editing the footage.

500 metres for 1000 jobs: Todmorden Curve & Weavers Triangle
The Financial Times spoke of it as 'the missing piece in Burnley's jigsaw'; forthright Lancastrians speak of it as 'the no brainer'; the facts simply speak for themselves: nowhere else in the country is there a town of 90 000 people 23 miles from an urban centre of 2.5 million people without a direct rail link between the two.
That's why Burnley's has submitted an £8.8 million bid to the Government's Regional Growth Fund (RGF).
Reinstating 500 metres of rail track would: connect the two economies of Burnley and Manchester via the Todmorden Curve; give a 'green light' to a £100 million project by Barnfield Investment Properties in a cluster of canal-side mills called the Weavers' Triangle; generate a total of £30+ million GVA for the Lancashire economy each year, and safeguard or create 816 jobs.
You can see why we call it the 'no brainer'.
It's affordable in context of other rail schemes, deliverable due to a huge amount of preparation work that has already taken place and exceptional value for money, generating four times the amount of its one-off cost EACH year.
What's more it will rebalance Burnley's economy towards private sector jobs which means sustainable economic growth.
Manchester wants it; Burnley wants it - now we seek to make the Government want it too.

Two Monkey Dogs explore Walton Summit Branch ( Old Lancaster Canal )
The Affiefilm crew take a walk along Walton Summit Branch ( Original route of Lancaster Canal ), now a derelict section. Starting at Town Lane & ending just before Johnsons Hillcock.
This is a lovely walk and is full of wildlife. A great
place for a walk, to either Top Lock or Botany Bay, along the Leeds - Liverpool canal.
Cassie & Pippa, our two Affenpinschers love to explore this stretch, although Cassie has been know to help herself to the occasional fishermans sandwich !
This film was filmed on a Samsung WB150F camera. My first time using a camera to film with, as usually I use my trusty HD Camcorder. I have to say I was very impressed with the picture quality.

Last Road Canal S1E2 - Zombies, Narrowboats, Canals, Soldier, Stephen K Amos
The town of Stroud in the west of England has been long known for its resources and generosity to the weary traveler. Almost like it is its own island trapped in its own time.
Directly after the millennium hit so did the disease. It started in the cities and spread across the country like wild fire. After a handful of years and the virus had taken its toll governing bodies found that Stroud, for one reason or another, would be the best testing ground to start to regenerate normal life.
To stop any problem like this occurring again the government placed a fence around the District. Only one road out and one road in.
Chris & Dave are two individuals who hold Stroud close to their hearts. Friends from childhood they run a local pest control business spending each day sitting in cafes considering their lives and how they could possibly put the world to rights.
Something is wrong though, very wrong, and with a turn of events they find themselves deep in more trouble than either of them bargained for…
Last Road S1E2 Canal

Narrowboat Timelapse on The Grand Union Canal - Braunston to Norton Junction
All signs point to Braunston. Well at least the milemarkers along the Southern GU count down the distance, so I thought taking a trip in the boat there was in order. Winding at Braunston Turn, a trip up the Braunston Flight, through Braunston Tunnel and on to Norton Junction, finally mooring up on the VMs for the night to contemplate the trip back down to London. (My steering became a little bit erratic toward the junction due to me paying less attention to the tiller and rather too much to the fantastic scenery playing out before me. Oh and spot the couple 24 seconds in stopping after the Gongoozler Cafe boat where the man waters the hedgerow. Hmm, Classy...)
Bridgewater Canal - Castlefield Junction & Grocer's Wharf
A short cruise along the Bridgewater Canal from Castlefield Junction to Grocer's Wharf and back, past historic warehouses, lift bridges and to the River Medlock which feeds the canal. As Bill Bryson said Manchester doesn't seem to have a very clear image of itself. 'Shaping Tomorrow's City Today' is the official local moto, but in fact Manchester seems decidedly of two minds about its place in the world. At Castlefield, they were busy creating yesterday's city today, cleaning up the old brick viaducts and warehouses, recobbling the quaysides, putting fresh coats of glossy paint on the old arched footbridges and scattering about a generous assortment of old-fashioned benches, bollards and lampposts. By the time they have finished, you will be able to see exactly what life was like in nineteenth century Manchester - or at least what it would be like if they had wine-bars, and cast-iron litter bins and directional signs for heritage trails and the G-Mex Centre
This movie was made from the final few minutes of the last ever video tape that is still in our possession from our (then) brand new, shiney, $3,000, Sony VX2100 video camera, cut with footage from Camera 2.
We thought Duke's Lock (under Castle Street Bridge and entrance to the Rochdale Canal which is where we were headed) was an ornamental water feature so cruised up and down the Grocer's Wharf arm before finding ourselves heading back the way we had come. Somewhere near the Potato Wharf Arm we turned the boat for a second time and soon found that the camera, tripod and all was no longer aboard. It is missing, presumed dead at the bottom of the Bridgewater Canal.
Why all the cows and armored personnel carriers were adorning the canal side we have no idea. Just as we have no idea why the camera stayed on board after Madaxe's mighty stone crunching twat, we have none as to why it vanished after my subsequent and less violent one.
If anyone happens to be cruising at the top end of the Bridgewater Canal near to the Potato Wharf Arm and dredges up the camera we would be very interested to see the tape labeled Camera 1 -- Tape 014 AND FIND OUT WHO DUNNIT!
