SNJÓR
Filmed with a Phantom 4 pro drone in Heiðmörk nature reserve on the outskirts of Reykjavík, Iceland, after af night of heavy snowfall last weekend. Everyone I met that day looked so happy about the weather and recent snowfall. Sometimes even the simplest things connect us in the most beautiful ways.
The song in the video is aptly named Connected and is composed by my dear friend and composer Pétur Jónsson at Anthemico Records.
The song was originally composed for a beautiful short film for Amnesty International, about the connection between the refugees that have made Iceland their home and us Icelanders, and to remind us of the current refugee situation around the world. The original video can be found here:
More people have been forced from their homes by war and violence than at any time since World War II. Over a million people fled to Europe just last year, often risking everything they own and their lives in doing so.
The rise in refugee population sometimes makes the scale of the problem difficult for us to comprehend. And we, in the richer more secure countries, tend to forget that refugees are in every important aspect just like us, with the same hopes and dreams for themselves and their families, not just a 'problem' that we don't know how to solve.
In 1997, psychologist Arthur Aron came up with a theory that four minutes of looking into the eyes of another person will bring them closer. I had the pleasure of composing music for this short film, aimed to prove that point, and remind us all that geography doesn't divide us. Instead of closing borders, we should be opening them up.
If you can, support your local Amnesty group, or other charities that help out refugees. Every little bit helps.

Hvallàtur | Breiðafirði
Breiðafjörður is a large shallow bay, about 50 km wide and 125 km long and located in the west of Iceland. It separates the region of the Westfjords from the rest of the country. Breiðafjörður is encircled by mountains, including glacier Snæfellsjökull the Snæfellsnes peninsula on the south side and the West Fjord peninsula to the north.
Breiðafjörður has a spectacular land and seascape consisting of shallow seas, small fjords and bays and an inner part of intertidal areas dotted with about 3,000 islands, islets and skerries. The area contains about half of Iceland's intertidal area and tides can be six metres.
The islands in Breiðafjörður have an unbroken history of human use but now only few islands are inhabited year-round. Many islands are used for summer residences and natural resources such as eiderdown harvesting.
Presidential Peninsula - Garðabær
With its vast wild nature from Heiðmörk Nature Reserve in the east to Álftanes peninsula in the west, it is ideal for outdoor life. Less than 20 minutes from the city center and home to the President of Iceland, the town of Garðabær draws many visitors a year.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Reykjavík ( RAYK-yə-vik, -veek; Icelandic: [ˈreiːcaˌviːk] (listen)) is the capital and largest city of Iceland. It is located in southwestern Iceland, on the southern shore of Faxaflói bay. Its latitude is 64°08' N, making it the world's northernmost capital of a sovereign state. With a population of around 128,793 (and 228,231 in the Capital Region), it is the center of Iceland's cultural, economic and governmental activity, and is a popular tourist destination.
Reykjavík is believed to be the location of the first permanent settlement in Iceland, which, according to Landnámabók, was established by Ingólfr Arnarson in AD 874. Until the 19th century, there was no urban development in the city location. The city was founded in 1785 as an official trading town and grew steadily over the following decades, as it transformed into a regional and later national centre of commerce, population, and governmental activities. It is among the cleanest, greenest, and safest cities in the world.
