Landing Ship, Tank No. 532, The USS Chase County, at Polgwidden (AKA Trebah) on the Helford River, near Falmouth, Cornwall, England during World War 2. The LST moves up the river at Trebah. The USS Chase County is seen docked and ready for troops and equipment to embark. (Note: Later this same day, Allied troops and equipment did embark on the USS Chase County for the D-Day invasion of Normandy. However, they spent the next 5 very uncomfortable days afloat in bad weather that actually delayed the operation.) Location: Falmouth England. Date: June 1, 1944.

Kayak Trip - Maenporth to Helford River - Cornwall UK
Kayak trip on 20th October 2012 from Maenporth Falmouth UK to Helford River.
Easy 2 hour paddle, head land off the Helford was a little choppy.
On the night of the 30 December 1978, the Scottish trawler Ben Asdale was wrecked off Maenporth I have included a photo of the remains of the hull showing at high tide. I narrated the video slightly wrong and said 1979. This stretch of coast is very colourful paddle and I have now done this a few times.
Please check out my other kayak videos.
Filmed with Panasonic DMC-FT20.

SAILING PLYMOUTH TO MILFORD HAVEN VIA HELFORD RIVER
Episode 18
Rounding the UK - Sailing SV Compromise
A'up you handsome crew
In this episode we experience the carnival atmosphere of the World Cup in Plymouth before taking a 36hr sail around the foot of the UK known as Lands End. We go across the Westerly approaches which is coming from the Atlantic, this section is like a mini Bay of Biscay.
We discover that Milford Haven really is a Haven and we really enjoyed our time there.
You also hear from Hannah & Kyle and see what it was like for them whilst me and Liam was at sea.
(We will be doing an extra video on rounding Portland Bill and Lands end in the future, this video will be aimed at existing sailors).
We have been overwhelmed by the amount of support and subscribers we have even though we haven't had a boat, hope you have really enjoyed our journey of us learning to sail and searching for a boat. We have been super excited to have brought you along with us and to be honest if it wasn't for some of the supportive comments we have had, we could given up, for this we thank you so much.
Hope you enjoy our videos even more now we have our boat.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank Shaun & Barry who volunteered to help bring our new boat home, you guys were amazing!
Cheers
Gav, Hannah, Liam & Kyle x

Sea Kayaking In Cornwall Helford River
Come and join us for a sea kayaking journey on the Helford River in Cornwall. We start our journey at Glendurgan and paddle past mansions, private beaches, yacht parks and yacht garages. We paddle through tiny villages, Amazon style creeks, enchanted woodlands and pass a ghost ship, ending our journey when the GoPro ran out of battery at the end of a beautiful creek at Polwheveral! (I hope I pronounced that right) ????
