Glacier Lagoon Expedition helicopter tour in Iceland
From the air, the volcanic black sand beaches of South Iceland seem to stretch out forever. This is where Iceland hugs the Atlantic Ocean, a place where sediment carrying glacial rivers battle the might and erosion of the North Atlantic. In the distance, looms the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano, with it’s gleaming glacier cap, canyons and tumbling waterfalls.
Entering Vatnajökull National Park from the air is a truly unique sight. Home to the largest ice cap in Europe by volume, this massive wall of white has over 30 outlet glaciers flowing and crashing down from its giant ice cap. Our first stop is at the base of one of them, where we take a closer look at one of the natural wonders of Iceland.
At touch down we spend 30- 45 minutes exploring Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and it’s luminous bright blue icebergs, some of which are more than 1000 years old. Here you might even catch a glimpse of Iceland's playful seals!
Back in the air we make one final pass over the lagoon and head west, past the highest peak in Iceland and over the many glacial tongues of the Vatnajökull Glacier. As these rivers of ice fade to pencil thin lines of white behind the helicopter, we enter the remote Fjallabak region - the Icelandic highlands. This is the unpopulated, rugged, mountainous center of the island. Secluded mountain lakes, braided rivers, glacial-hewn valleys and towering mountains that, due to their remoteness, remain hidden to all but a few. We will explore the colorful riolite mountains of Landmannalaugar geothermal area and Hrafntinnusker from the air and ground, before heading back to Reykjavik, passing Mt Hekla - one of the most active volcanoes in Iceland.
Note: during this trip we will make three landings, one of which is at the Glacier Lagoon. The other two depend on weather conditions but the most common ones include Fimmvörðuháls's by Eyjafjallajökull Volcano and Hrafntinnusker geothermal area. Included in the trip is a packed lunch and our pilot will make sure to find a special scenic picnic spot to enjoy it in. As an Addition to the tour you can add a 1 hour guided glacier hiking tour on a glacier that overlooks the Fjallsárlón lagoon.
This truly is a once in a lifetime trip. Catching a glimpse of the extreme opposites and variety of Iceland’s unique landscape used to mean several days spent driving and hiking. A helicopter opens up the possibility see it all, in the span of a single day.
Sights: Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, Vatnajökull Glacier, Fjallabak Region, Landmannalaugar Geothermal Area, Eyjafjallajökull Glacier Volcano, Fimmvörðuháls Craters, Fjallsárlón lagoon

Volcano Helicopter Tour in Iceland - Fire and Ice
The Fire & Ice tour is one of our most unique offers. It is a combination of a few of our most popular tours and, most importantly, it includes 2 landings!
The adventure starts in Reykjavik Domestic Airport where we head straight to the Þórisjökull glacier for our first landing. Before reaching the glacier we overfly the highest waterfall of Iceland - Glymur. Save hours of hiking and look at it from our comfortable seat in the sky! Once we reach the glacier, you'll get the chance to step foot on it, take memorable photos, throw a snow ball, make snow angels, or simply enjoy the view and take a deep breath of the fresh, crisp air.
We continue to Þingvellir National Park where the historic parliament site is located and where Iceland‘s largest natural lake is. Right there, you'll witness the continental drift of the Eurasian and the North American tectonic plates that's only fully visible from above.
The second landing of this tour is in the Hengill geothermal area, in a remote valley accessible only by a few hours hike or by a helicopter. This valley has hot springs and boiling mud pots that you can walk right up to. It is a magical place that is beautiful throughout the whole year. This landing site is also a part of our Geothermal tour and the Waterfalls and Valleys

ICELAND BY HELICOPTER :: AWESOME HELI TOUR OF ICELAND
ICELAND BY HELICOPTER :: Over seven hundred years ago, the Poetic Edda, written in Iceland, captured the earliest known lore of the Vikings which had been passed down through word of mouth. Little wonder that this rugged, brooding landscape, alive with fire and frozen with ice, was the birth place of the rich Nordic myths.
Today travellers to Iceland are privileged to witness this same spectacular land, virtually unchanged and barely touched by human progress. Join us as we soar over a magical vista in a journey into the extraordinary, accompanied by the remarkable and haunting electric violin music of Ed Alleyne-Johnson which draws its inspiration from a U2 classic.
The Poetic Edda is a collection of Old Norse poems primarily preserved in the Icelandic mediaeval manuscript Codex Regius. Along with Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda, the Poetic Edda is the most important extant source on Norse mythology and Germanic heroic legends, and from the early 19th century onwards has had a powerful influence on later Scandinavian literatures, not merely through the stories it contains but through the visionary force and dramatic quality of many of the poems.
