Coleman Glacier, WA 2010.10.05 Freshly Dusted Frozen Sun Cups.avi
Oct. 5th, 2010 some of The Snow Troopers found themselves waking up w/ the sounds created by the mighty Nooksack River from our sweet last min. room rental @ the Snow Water condos located in Glacier, WA.
After a nice big breakfast we took the short 20 min. drive to the TH to start our tennis shoe climb towards Heliotrope Ridge. Met only 3 guys heading up for a few days to enjoy their summit of Mt. Baker. They had stopped just before the Coleman Glacier on the climbers route for night one. After our perfect day of views and turns we made our way back down the trail catching a great sunset and not having to get the lamps out.
Live to ski another day!

Mount Baker- Railroad Grade, Park Butte
These images were captured while hiking Railroad Grade and Park Butte trails on the south side of Mount Baker.
Mount Baker is an active, glaciated volcano in Northwest Washington State, 31 miles due east of the city of Bellingham. It is part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc and Cascade Range.
At 10,781 ft., Mount Baker is the third-highest mountain in Washington State and the fifth-highest mountain in the Cascade Range.
Mount Baker is the youngest volcano in the United States, and the second most active after Mount Saint Helens. Mount Baker last erupted in 1880.
Mount Baker is a great place to camp, climb, hike and backpack. You'll find glacier-covered peaks, wildflower-filled meadows, and old-growth forests. The mountain and surrounding area is part of the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and much of it is designated wilderness.
