These almost wild horses were a beautiful and refreshing sight to be seen. The horses we saw during our trip were provided with plenty of land to roam and seemed to be well taken care of.

Am 16.6.2017 machten wir zum Abschluß unseres Islandurlaubes eine 2. Reittour mit Islandpferden .
Wir ritten ca. 2 Stunden . Es war eine herrliche Tour durch die isländische Natur.
Da es erst unsere 2. Reitour überhaupt war ,sieht es doch schon ganz vernünftig aus . Oder ?
Auf dem Hof wird deutsch gesprochen .Island Tour

Landsmót - Icelandic National Horse show!
The largest outdoor sporting event in Iceland showcasing Iceland's best horses and riders. The main theme of the event is an all Icelandic Riding Horse Competition Gaedingakeppni where riders of all ages and their horses compete in an event composed of showing all five gaits of the Icelandic horse, Tölt, trot, walk, gallop and Pace. The parallel theme is a competition and show of breeding horses, were the best stallions and breeding mares are shown and rated. As Tölt is the most treasured gait of the Icelandic horse, the highlight of the Landsmot is always the Tölt Competition where the best Tölt horses and their riders compete for the Landsmot Tölt Champion Title.
All Icelandic Country Festival for the whole Family
The event is a week long, acquiring over 100 volunteers a total staff of over 200. Apart from being a horse competition, the event is a popular spectator and family Country Festival. The Landsmot area is transformed into a village featuring a large camp site, markets with a variety of goods, children's playgrounds, a line-up of Icelandic entertainers performing during the week, and a number of Icelandic food vendor offering a wide variety of culinary choices.

At Eldhestar we have developed our activities since 1986 to combine pleasure, comfort and adventure in a way respecting nature. Our farm is located in the heart of Iceland’s south-western countryside, only 30 minutes´ drive from Reykjavík. Our accommodation facilities are log cabins which are available for rent at Varmahlíð, including five 50-m2 cabins.
The cottages sleep 4 people, in two double bedrooms. All of these cottages are furnished with basic kitchen equipment, a gas grill, a television, a radio, and a patio with an outdoor hot tub. Duvets and pillows are provided for 4 people, but towels and bedding are not included in the price.
Varmahlíð is perfectly located for nature lovers, hiking groups, families, golfers, horse riders, anglers, rafting groups and skiers alike. A good swimming pool, store, horse rental and rafting trips are all located close to the cottage.
