History: The Greek Empire Documentary on Ancient Greece
Ancient Greece was a civilization belonging to a period of Greek history that lasted from the Archaic period of the 8th to 6th centuries BC[citation needed] to the end of antiquity (c. 600 AD). Immediately following this period was the beginning of the Early Middle Ages and the Byzantine era.[1] Included in ancient Greece is the period of Classical Greece, which flourished during the 5th to 4th centuries BC. Classical Greece began with the repelling of a Persian invasion by Athenian leadership. Because of conquests by Alexander the Great of Macedonia, Hellenistic civilization flourished from Central Asia to the western end of the Mediterranean Sea.

As if the entire city is a museum, ancient Athens remains. I headed to the National Archaeological Museum to see the artifacts representing Athens. Built in 1866, the museum is one of the world's top museums and the largest in the world. Numerous artifacts from ancient Greek to Byzantine times are on display. There are many art objects designated as world heritage sites. In the first exhibition room are the remains of Mycenaean civilization of the 16th century BC. Among them, this mask made of the face of King Agamemnon was covering the face of the dead king in the grave. At the time of his death, the king was 27 years old. Agamemnon is said to have lived a long life and died young, but he was a brilliant figure and honorably buried in that age. Besides the tomb of Agamemnon, a total of six tombs were unearthed and many artifacts were found. It is said to be exhibited artifacts. He teaches Mycenaean civilization to students in various European countries. This boy is from Russia. What are you doing? I have a picture and I have to find the name of the artifact. Greece is a country with a long history. The National Archaeological Museum has many statues. Two bronze statues representing the museum are famous. This work was found in shipwrecks off the coast of Artemisio in 1926. The Poseidon bronze statue originally had a window in its right hand, but now it is gone and can not be seen. There are exhibits of statues, historic objects, pottery, bronze statues and ancient Egyptian artifacts that have been around for a very long time. From the artifacts found at Sunion where the Temple of Poseidon was found to the works of the best artist of the Peloponnese, You can meet cultural assets. But there are places where photographs take place where artifacts should be. Here we manage the artifacts and pack them here when we take them out. On one side of the lab, there are artifacts we saw in the photographs. Now here we are packing Greek artifacts to be exhibited in other countries. You have to decide what part of the artifact will not touch the wall as it enters the box. These parts should not touch the wall. So they use this to protect the protruding parts. They are sorting out the artifacts that are going to be exhibited in Korea. We will record what the artifacts are going to leave here, and when they arrive we will record what state they were in Seoul. It is anticipated that you can see Greek artifacts in Korea at the time of broadcasting. I think it is a great opportunity for the very distant peoples to get closer to us with our archeological artifacts and scholarship.

Meteora, Μετέωρα, the heavens above, Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Greece on rock pinnacles
Meteora (Greek:Metéora Μετέωρα, literally. middle of the sky, suspended in the air or in the heavens above — etymologically related to Meteorite) is one of the gems of Greece and second only to Mount Athos as being the largest and most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries.
Located near the towns of Kalampaka and Kastraki in northwestern Thessaly it consists of a number of rock pinnacles topped with a total of 24 monasteries. These immense, solid rocks, split by earthquakes, weathered by water and wind over millions of years, are nature’s authentic masterpieces.Beautiful places to travel to game :

St. Stephen's Monastery, Meteora, ☎ +30 24320 22279, [6]. 09:00 - 13:30 and 15:30 - 17:30. This is the most accessible monastery, where instead of steps you simply cross a small bridge to reach the entrance. It is ideal for visitors who cannot use the steps and yet they wish to have a real experience of a Meteora monastery. Entrance: 3€. edit
Inexpensive, mass produced icons may be purchased in the monasteries for as little as €1. They do not have the variety of the factories, however.
The monasteries were not originally built for tourism. Tourism, essential to the monasteries survival, has also destroyed their character. They are no longer contemplative.

A unique Museum with more than 300 embalmed birds and mammals and a great collection of mushrooms.

The Greek Orthodox Church of the Roman Catholic and Parliamentary Orthodox Church was recognized as an autonomous church in 1833 after Greece became independent from the Ottoman Turks in 1830. Their belief was acknowledged because there were special monasteries. I arrived at Meteora for two hours by car in search of the special monastery. Meteora is a Greek word meaning 'floating in the air'. It is the name given to monasteries built on the huge sandstone rocks of this area. There are 24 places on this rock, including the nunnery, in the area, only 6 of which are open to the public. It's amazing. I have already heard that this place is very beautiful and good, but it is much better than I have seen on the internet. I can not look at all the monasteries. I headed to Balaam Monastery, where tourists are the most searched. When you enter the entrance, you will see a monastery built on a 373 meter rock. In the past, four ladders were used to climb the monastery. In 1923, 195 staircases were set up and moved safely. To enter the monastery, a woman must wear a skirt. The inside of the monastery is forbidden to shoot broadcasts, but the day before was Easter, and I was specifically allowed to shoot. The monastery began in 1350 when Balaam, a monk, climbed on a rock and built a small sanctuary and several rooms and lived with the priests. It was so remote that it could keep the church from the Turks and continue the roots of the Orthodox Church of Greece. This was the last day of the Easter holiday, and many people came and prayed. But I could not shoot inside the church. Instead, there is a glimpse into the lives of past monks. This is where monks store wine. It was built in the 16th century and houses 12,000 people who can drink wine. When you enter the side warehouse again, there is a special device. It's a pulley that lifts things up in the monastery. In the old days, there was no mechanical pulley, so I pulled the rope down and slowly pulled it up. This pulley was only used 15 years ago. Another nearby monastery installed mechanical pulleys a few years ago and plans to install them in the future. I can not express myself in words. It's a magical place. It's a beautiful place. It is well known to us as Greeks. It is a place I have to come to once. Even now, the monks are living the Greek Orthodox culture and traditions.

20 Things to do in Athens Greece Top Attractions Travel Guide Transcript:
Well, good afternoon from sunny Athens. We are currently exploring the Greek capital. We recently actually spent a few days traveling around Meteora and now we're finishing up our trip here in Athens. We've got two full days to explore the city which isn't a lot of time but we're going to try to do our best.
Our first stop was one of the most recognized sights in Athens - the Parthenon, which was dedicated to the goddess Athena who was seen as the patron of Athens.
After sunset we lingered atop Mount Lycabettus for some night views of the city before taking the funicular down to the bottom. Seeing the Acropolis all lit up at night was a pretty cool sight!
Next up we visited the Temple of Zeus which once housed the statue of Zeus, and was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
When it comes to shopping, there are a few different options. We made our way to Monastiraki, which is one of the principal shopping districts in Athens. Here we visited both the Flea Market and the antique shops in the area.
The Agora was the central spot in ancient Greek city-states, and it is where people gathered.
So we are wrapping up our time here in Athens. Any surprises or final thoughts to share? Yeah, something that really surprised me were just the amount of stray animals that I saw on the streets.
I also thought there was really good dining options as well. We had a number of really good Greek meals and also some really good International food too.
Final thoughts, I think this is a really underrated capital in Europe. A lot like Warsaw in Poland so if you have an opportunity to visit Athens in Greece definitely do so.
So what did you think of Athens? Well, I thought it was a really cool city and I actually had a great time here. It kind of reminded me a little bit of Tel Aviv with the Mediterranean feel but also Berlin because it is very artsy and gritty. So it's a really cool place to check out. Great food, lots of attractions. You have a mix of antiquity with urban.
And that's a wrap for Athens! We hope you enjoyed this city guide and that it'll come in handy when you plan your own trip.
This is part of our Travel in Greece series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Greek culture, Greek arts, Greek foods & Greek cuisine.

Destroyed and rebuilt numerous times, this ancient metropolis is so extensive that archaeologists may never be able to recover all its ruins. There are, however, some structures standing today that simply must be experienced by all tourists visiting the Greek capital. From the 5th century B.C. Acropolis, home to the stunning Parthenon and ancient Agora to the Roman Agora, Hadrian's Arch and Temple of Zeus, a visit to Ancient Athens is an unforgettable walk through over 2,500 years of history. Another series of must-visit sites in the capital are the free metro station museums (specifically Acropolis and Syntagma) where new-world and old-world Athens come together. For more information on these and all the top historical sites of the city, check out the David's Been Here Guide to Athens, now available for your Kindle as well.
