Hellifield Railway Station and Sidings, North Yorkshire
Hellifield serves the village of Hellifield and passengers on the Settle and Carlisle line in North Yorkshire, England.
The station is on the Leeds to Morecambe Line, the Settle and Carlisle route and the Ribble Valley Line from Blackburn - it is unstaffed and managed by Northern Rail. It is partly privately owned but open to the public at certain time
UK - Busy Day at Hellifield - 3 Trains & 4 Locos, 13th April 2019
We spent a full day around the Hellifield area on an exceptionally cold and windy April day, to capture the sight of four steam locomotives working express trains through the town.
The first one of the day was The Citadel from Manchester to Carlisle and back, behind a pair of ex.LMS Black 5's numbers 44871 and 45407.
An hour or so later, came the recently built LNER Class A1 pacific number 60163 Tornado with The Border Raider from Birmingham to Carlisle and back. It was nice to see Tornado working very well, after a long time suffering a number of technical problems.
Then, after a couple of hours relaxing, it was back to the lineside to see ex.LMS Jubilee number 45690 Leander with The Pennine Blackpool Express from London Euston to Blackpool and back.
All in all a satisfying day, despite the extremely windy conditions which made filming quite tricky.

Changing at Hellifield - 1963
The Summer of 1963 was a period of great change on British Railways. Dr Beeching had just made his Plan for BR known and it was evident that everything was about to change. At Hellifield, the effective junction for the famous Settle & Carlisle line (which even Beeching hadn't threatened with total closure, just to passengers) there was evidence of this as an old Midland 3F 0-6-0 mixes it with an original Patriot, Fowler and Fairburn 2-6-4 tanks and a BR/Sulzer Type 4 (a Peak) complete with a yellow warning panel.

B1 61306 Mayflower Stops At Hellifield On A Loaded Test Run 24/01/19
An engine movement that sees 61306 Mayflower pull a loaded train around the Carnforth Circular from Carnforth-Hellifield-Blackburn-Carnforth. Having never seen this engine before, I decided to head to Hellifield to get a good look at this engine and it is a beauty.
The weather wasn't the greatest but none the less, Mayflower looked wonderful as arrived and departed Hellifield Station. The shroud of steam covers the engine that eventually emerges as it heads towards Blackburn on its way back to Carnforth.
Hope you enjoy this video.

34067 Tangmere on The Cumbrian Mountain Express at Hellifield and Lostock Hall,12th April 2012
Southern Region Light Pacific, 4-6-2, 34067 Tangmere arrives at Hellifield on the return leg of The Cumbrian Mountain Express on Thursday 12th April 2012.
Hellifield was a good location for my two young grandsons to see a steam locomotive close-up. 6 year old Timothy took a stack of photos so maybe he'll catch the steam engine bug! 18 month old Isaac now knows what a steam engine is and can just about say it!
A morning at Hellifield with 48151
My works van was in the garage at Hellifield for a couple of hours getting tyres and alignment sorted so I decided to have a wander up to the station - I hadn't realised, but 48151 was at the station getting ready to take the Pendle Dalesman special through to Carlisle - lots of short loco movements with accompanying glorious sound before finally pulling away without a diesel unit tagged on the back.
The ABC of RAILWAYS: H is for HELLIFIELD
Hellifield is the junction giving access to the southern end of the Settle-Carlisle line. Lines from Skipton and Blackburn converge at the southern end of the station and a line from Carnforth merges with the tracks from Settle just north of the station. The southbound Cambrian Mountain Express trains in the film (1988 and 89) are being reversed to gain access to the Carnforth line from the northbound platform and a diesel replaces the steam locomotive for the remainder of the journey. The Train of Hope (2011) continues southbound towards Blackburn and in this case it is the steam locomotive Scots Guardsman and its support coach which are reversed to return to Carnforth.
