Helvellyn, Lake District, England, UK. There was snow on the summit combined with a bitterly cold wind but the sun was shining and there were few other people up there. We took the steep route up starting from The King's Head Hotel on the A591.

Helvellyn and Scafell Pike, Lake District, England

4 Days in Lake District.
Initial plan was to walk from Penrith (which I did) to Helvellyn, then to Skiddow (which I didn't) in Keswick, and down south to Scafell Pike, instead I walked from Helvellyn to Scafell Pike.
I felt as though the walk was good for the time being and perhaps more could be explored in further trips.
I had a great time in Lake District. Amazing landscape and people were just as nice and kind.

Helvellyn via Striding Edge, Lake District, England | DJI Mavic Pro

Last weekend we hiked one of the most well-known and scenic hikes in the UK - Helvellyn! We approached the mountain via Striding Edge, a classic approach and you are awarded with absolutely stunning views over Ullswater. We had really nice conditions and I must say it is definitely up there as one of my favourite hikes! Bit of scrambling made it good fun.

Helvellyn, The Lake District, England

(Please reduce the screen image size for better quality.) An ascent of Helvellyn, England's third highest mountain. The climb starts in Patterdale and ascends to the 'Hole in The Wall', taking in views of the southern part of the Helvellyn range. The climb then crosses Striding Edge to the summit of Helvellyn, descending via Swirral Edge, before taking in the summit of Catstye Cam and the view over Ullswater. The descent then takes in the view of Helvellyn from Red Tarn, before returning to The Hole in The Wall. NB: Sadly, two people have recently died on Striding Edge due to the adverse weather conditions (January 2008). Please equip yourself properly and take great care if attempting the climb in the winter.

Day 381- We're hiking Helvellyn in Norther England! This was honestly the highlight of our trip to the Lake District. You won't believe the views from the top of the mountain. We were literally above the clouds!

How to Wild Camp in Lake District 2018 | ENGLAND

We had one of the best weather in Lake District during our Wild Camping trip in July 2018.

Night of 14/07/2018: Took a night coach from London Victoria to Penrith Station

Day 1: Taxi from Penrith station to Pooley Bridge
(You can start your hike from Penrith station if you want)
Start hike from Pooley Bridge to Howtown to Beda Fell to Angle Tarn
Set camp at Angle Tarn

Day 2: Hike from Angle Tarn to Patterdale (stock up on supplies)
Hike to Helvellyn approaching Striding Edge ( couple of deaths here , so please be very careful when planning to do this hike)
Set camp at Red Tarn

Day 3: Hike from Helvellyn to Thirlspot Kings head
Bus 555 to Keswick
Bus 787, 77A, 78 from Keswick to Seatoller
Hike from Seatoller to Seathwaite to Styhead Tarn
Set Camp at Styhead Tarn

Day 4: Leave camp at Styhead Tarn and hike early to Scafell Pike
Head down to Seatoller and take Bus to Keswick
Set camp at Keswick Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Day 5: Hike to Catsbell in morning
Bus from Keswick to Penrith
Explore alittle in Penrith
Train back to London

Helvellyn - Lake District MTB Route

This is a very technical 12.5 mile route over the summit of Helvellyn, in the Lake District, that climbs Sticks Pass and descends Dolywagon Pike and Grisedale. It's a ride that pushes my limits and usually leaves me aching for a few days!

Lake District Country Walk Helvellyn from Glenridding round

Helicopter lands on Striding Edge in our guided video walk in the Lake District, Cumbria. From Glenridding we walk along Greenside Road to Red Tarn then scramble up Swirral Edge to the summit of Helvellyn. We then watch the helicopter thats bringing in stone to mend the paths land on Striding Edge. We then scramble down and over Striding Edge to Hole-in-the-Wall then follow the path back to Glenridding. This is a hard walk with steep inclines and declines and narrow ledges and edges. There is a lot of steep scrambling over rocks and boulders. Elevation: Approx lowest point 155.60m (510.50ft) approx highest point 944.20m (3097.80ft). Approx 7.5 miles allow 5 hours using OS Explorer Map OL5, The English Lakes North-eastern area. Start point: Glenridding Pay and Display Car Park. Julia Bradbury walks the Wainwright Walk up Helvellyn

This was part of the first series of walking programmes with Julia produced by Skyworks for BBC4. It was deemed as one of the most successful of its time. The route starts at the church in Patterdale village. The walk then heads away from Ullswater taking a gentle stroll along Grizedale Valley. This walk then leads you to the hole-in-the-wall. Up ahead is the vast combe of Helvellyn. From up here you start you ascent up Striding Edge. You have a last short steep scramble as you reach the top.
