Western Science Center - Hemet, CA
Come share the excitement at this state-of-the-art museum complex!
Located off Domenigoni Parkway by Diamond Valley Lake, Western Science Center is home to a fascinating array of archaeological artifacts and Pleistocene Ice Age fossils that were unearthed at Diamond Valley Lake.
In the gallery you’ll meet “Max”, the largest mastodon found in the Western United States at the time of discovery, as well as “Xena”, a teenage Colombian mammoth. Let your imagination run wild as you walk on tempered glass, which houses “Little Stevie,” a large mastodon installed beneath the museum floor to re-create the actual dig site.
The museum campus provides excellent facilities for the research, curation, and presentation of the nearly 1,000,000 specimens discovered during the development of the Diamond Valley Lake in Hemet, California.
Scientists, researchers, students and the general public have an unparalleled opportunity to interact with and to understand the magnificent creatures and resourceful people who inhabited the Diamond and Domenigoni Valleys from the distant Ice Age past through today. There are plenty of hands on activities including a “make your own fossil” station.
Come early and take a walking tour through our native plant garden, and leave enough time to visit the museum store to pick up a unique item.
Programs for the community are held regularly at Western Science Center so make sure and check our website for special events, and visiting exhibits. If you become a member, you can get in free all year to a variety of exhibits, receptions, lectures, and events!
Whether it is dire wolves, saber-toothed cats, Pleistocene fossils, local family history, or archaeological artifacts, we have something for you!

Lake Elsinore is a city in western Riverside County, California, United States. Established as a city in 1888, it is on the shore of Lake Elsinore, a natural freshwater lake about 3,000 acres (1,200 ha) in size. The city has grown from a small resort town in the late 19th century and early 20th century to a population of well above 60,000 as of 2016.travel,
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 41.7 sq mi (108.0 km2) of which 36.2 sq mi (93.8 km2) of it is land and 5.5 sq mi (14.2 km2), or 13.14%, is covered by water.
Lake Elsinore, originally Laguna Grande, is the largest natural freshwater lake in Southern California and is situated at the lowest point within the 750-square-mile (1,900 km2) San Jacinto River watershed at the terminus of the San Jacinto River, where its headwaters are found on the western slopes of San Jacinto Peak with its North Fork, and Lake Hemet with its South Fork. Lake levels are healthy at 1,244 feet (379 m) above sea level with a volume of 30,000 acre⋅ft (37 Gl)[20] that often fluctuate, although much has been done recently to prevent the lake from drying up, flooding, or becoming stagnant. At 1,255 feet (383 m), the lake would spill into the outflow channel on its northeastern shore, known properly as Temescal Wash, flowing northwest along I-15, which feeds Temescal Creek, which dumps into the Santa Ana River just northwest of the City of Corona. It then flows to Orange County, out to the Pacific Ocean just south of Huntington State Beach.
Lake Elsinore is bordered by the Elsinore Mountains to the west, which are a part of the larger Santa Ana Mountain Range, and receive a few inches of snowfall a few days each year. Included in the Santa Ana Mountains is the Cleveland National Forest and the community of El Cariso. Lake Elsinore is northwest of Wildomar and the northern portion is part of the Temescal Canyon. To the east of the lake are the much older and more eroded slopes of the Temescal Mountains.
Districts
Lake Elsinore is a city which encompasses a large geographical area. To better distinguish the wide range of neighborhoods, the city is organized into 11 districts. Each district beholds its own unique geography, culture, age, and history which together make Lake Elsinore a very diverse and culturally rich city. They are the Alberhill, Ballpark, Business, Country Club Heights, East Lake, Historic, Lake Edge, Lake Elsinore Hills, Lake View, North Peak, and Riverview Districts.[21]tourism,
Birds on Lake Elsinore, 2007
Lake Elsinore Hills
The Lake Elsinore Hills District encompasses a large and varied terrain including broad plains, rolling hills, bronie zones, steep slopes, sensitive habitats, and watercourses, with elevations ranging from 1,300 to 2,170 feet (400 to 660 m) above the sea level. Many areas of the Lake Elsinore Hills District are not readily accessible or able to be developed, so have remained vacant. Two large bodies of water located within close proximity of the Lake Elsinore Hills District are the City's lake to the southwest and Canyon Lake to the east, which is located within the city of Canyon Lake. Some of the higher elevations offer beautiful panoramic views of the City's lake and the Santa Ana Mountains. The neighborhoods in this district include Tuscany Hills, Canyon Hills, and Rosetta Canyon.[29]hotels,

I am an archaeologist in Florida that found over 2,000 ancient holed stone anchors along the west coast shore proving that the fleet of Poseidon and Atlantis actually existed! I also found the ancient “Garden of the Three Hesperides that was in the far west reasons of the world from plato's position of Greece & Egypt. I don't care if you can't believe it because of your allegiance to the Bible but that work according to the evidence was taken from the Greek Garden of Eden story that plato learned from solan who in turn learned it from an Egyptian priest who translated a Stilo with hieroglyphics on it1 Sorry if this knowledge bothers you paradigm but that is the way it unfolded. in further proof the temple of Karnak in Egypt is a map to Tarpon.Springs,Florida as it illustrates to go out the pillars of Hercules then along the river Styx along the just north of the equator to Florida’s southern peninsula than across the lower state to Tarpon's palm trees and to spring Bayou with was the Spring of Life in greek non- mythology! Lord -King & Kalki AvatarJohann von Sax says so so you all just must believe or lose track of reality! Give up your false beliefs and you will be released from intellectual bondage! Amen kids!
==========================================================
I, John c. Saxer (Prince Johannes Christian von Sax of Switzerland) found & catalogued over 2,000 ancient holed stone anchors in Florida on and along a 300 miles the west coast shoreline and up to 10 miles inland along that same coast from Tallahassee to Naples, Fl. At Wakhula Springs ,Florida there is a theory there that Noah built his Ark there and I can find absolutely nothing to contend with that theory as very many holed ancient stone anchors are found there as that is indicating that many arks were built there as well as Noah's and were most likely the results of the ancient fleet building of Poseidon's first Navy. plato said that the Atlantan continent was in the far west regions of the world out the oilers of hercules and that the North American (and South American)continent seems to fulfill that location! Aug out River system is located in the center of that anchor degree field at Tarpon Springs ,Florida which when turned upside down on a map shows the 4 figures of Eden (the original Garden of the Three Hesperides ) Poseidon's upper torso and below the Son Atlas cross from Hesperus ; his wife and the river Dragon ;Ladon who is said by plato to have guarded the ancient scared garden. later the hero Hercules killed that same real life dragon Ladon which made the Three Hesperides Girls all cry as that dragon was their protector. All is as it should be the original garden of eden has been located! The Ancient Holed stone anchors match up with Noah's Ark Anchors on Mt. Ararat!

American Military Museum in South El Monte California World War II and Vietnam equipment
This is a cool museum across the street from Whittier Narrows Recreational Park at Rosmead just before Rush St. I think that this is a really nice museum to go to for Veterans and History nerds who are into military equipment of the World War 2 era, and the Vietnam era. Take a Veteran and have them share with you their experience with these Sherman Tanks, Choppers, Jeeps, Ambulances, missiles, Boats etc...The price is $5 per adult, $3 for Juniors 12-17, Free for under $5, and I believe it was $1 for kids 5-11 years old as of October 2017. If you read this in the future, the price may have gone up. I have been passing this museum everyday when I would take my son to the batting cages and I kept telling myself that I needed to stop by and check it out until I finally did. It was worth the price of admission. Enjoy this video and please share your own personal or family member's history regarding the war. Also leave a comment and feel free to share. 439-San Jacinto Mtn, Idyllwild Historical Society Museum
The Idyllwild Area Historical Society features an exhibit chronicling the Idyllwild area’s history as a film, television and video location site. As part of the exhibit, old movie equipment is on display, loaned by Frazier Drake and Don Zeigler.
The Idyllwild Area Historical Society have mounted an impressive exhibit of the Hill’s history as a location for feature films, short films, videos and television shows.
The exhibit will run as a complement to the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema and will continue indefinitely during regular museum days and hours after the festival closes.
During IIFC, the museum is open every day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. “What I wanted to do with the film festival was to coordinate Idyllwild’s history as a film location,” said Hart. “We wanted to let visitors and the town know that we have a varied history, and one that includes having movies made on the Hill for many years.”
As part of the exhibit, there is a book detailing the more than 100 movies written and/or filmed wholly or partially in the Idyllwild area beginning in 1914 when Cecil B. DeMille filmed cattle on the “open range” at the H.J. Ranch between Keen Camp and Garner Valley for his silent film, “The Squaw Man.”
Elvis is in the house, at least on display at the Idyllwild Area Historical Society Museum during the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema this week. This is part of a historical display on movies filmed in Idyllwild.
A number of Westerns have been filmed at Garner Ranch in Garner Valley, including “Guns and Guitars” (1936), “Heading for the Range” (1936), “Springtime in the Rockies” (1937), “Brothers in the Saddle” (1949), “Riders of the Range” (1949) and “Storm Over Wyoming” (1950). Garner Ranch also stood in for exteriors of the hit TV show “Bonanza” starring Lorne Greene.
Idyllwild was used for the biker funeral scene from the 1966 film “The Wild Angels” and featured the exterior of Silver Pines Lodge, renamed for the film the “Hillbilly Lodge.”
Also noted in the exhibit are the many writers and film luminaries who have had homes here, including Charles Laughton and Elsa Lanchester, Raymond Chandler, Lucille Ball, Doris Day, Marjorie Main and Dinah Shore.

Laws Railroad Museum And Historic Site Tour - Laws/Bishop California
This video takes us on a tour of the Laws Railroad Museum and Historic Site in Laws, California which is a few miles outside of Bishop, California.
The museum is free to enter and focuses on railroad and mining history. There are 11 acres of indoor and outdoor exhibits as well as a mock up of a mine and mill.
We visited for at least two hours with Ron Morefield, who gave us a great demonstration of a couple hit and miss engines, plus the history behind several more engines, that are there at the museum. There is also the original depot and the Slim Princess, a narrow gauge train that served the rail stop at Laws. It is a great museum that will take at least a few hours to explore.
Here are links to two related videos about the hit and miss engines.
