Hengdian World Studios, located near the city of Dongyang in China’s Zhejian Province, is the largest film studio in the world – with dozens of sound stages and sets on an eight thousand acre lot. Not surprisingly, it has been dubbed “China’s Hollywood”, even though it dwarfs the combined size of Hollywood’s Universal Studios Lot and The Studios at Paramount.
Hundreds of films are shot at Hengdian every year, but it’s not only movie stars and production crews who flock to this extraordinary film mecca. Hengdian World Studios has become a major tourist attraction in China, bringing jobs and prosperity to a once sleepy rural village. And now plans are underway to being high-speed rail and even more development to the region, making Hengdian World Studios a must-see destination in China.
CGTN’s Sean Callebs visited the larger-than-life Hengdian World Studios and was caught up in the whirlwind of creative activity that unfolds in every corner of this magical place.

Hengdian World Studios is the largest film studio in the world, located in Dongyang, Jinhua, Zhejiang Province.
Sometimes called Chinawood, the studio is privately owned by Hengdian Group who turned acres of farmland in central Zhejiang into what it is today.
The studio consists of 13 shooting bases with a total area of up to 330 hectares. and building areas of 495,995 square meters

About this sound Dongyang (help·info) (simplified Chinese: 东阳; traditional Chinese: 東陽; pinyin: Dōngyáng) is a Chinese city of about 804,398 people in the center of Zhejiang Province, about 200 kilometers south of Hangzhou. It covers an area of 1744.05 square kilometers and administers eleven towns, one county, and six subdistricts. It is part of the Yangtze River Delta Economic Region. Its built-up (or metro) area, made of Yiwu and Dongyang cities, was home to 2,038,413 inhabitants at the 2010 census.

In today's vlog, I visit the LARGEST film studio in the WORLD!! Hengdian World Studios!! Hengdian World Studios is a film studio located in Hengdian, a Chinese town in the city of Dongyang, Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. It is the largest film studio in the world. It was so much fun getting to see where Chinese films are made and even SEEING some being made right in front of me!! They had so many BEAUTIFUL sets and also AMAZING shows that I HAD to show you (which is why the vlog is WAY longer than normal haha). Known as China’s Hollywood, Hengdian Studios claims to be the largest film and TV production site in the world. Besides big-name stars, its lavish dramas also draw ordinary people from around the country to work as low-paid extras, dreaming of stardom or simply escaping from reality. An estimated 6,000 to 8,000 people are on hand daily to serve as extras at Hengdian. Most extras make about 100-200 yuan per day ($15-30).

Wu Ying (Chinese: 吴英, born 20 May 1981[1]) is an entrepreneur from the city of Dongyang in Zhejiang Province, and formerly the sixth-richest woman in China. She has been convicted of financial fraud and sentenced to death by a provincial court. Her sentence is now subject to review by the Supreme Court of China.[2][3]
Early life and careerThe eldest of four sisters, Wu Ying was born in May 1981 to a farmer's family in the village of Tangxia in Dongyang. After graduating from middle school in 1997, she studied accounting at a local vocational school, but dropped out after a year and a half to work at her aunt's beauty salon.[1][3] Later she opened her own beauty parlour on Dongyang's West Street and claimed to have made huge profits selling sheep placenta extract, a popular anti-aging product in China. She also opened a car rental company in nearby Yiwu.[1]
[edit] Bense GroupIn 2005 Wu Ying founded the Bense Group in Dongyang, and in the following year registered 15 separate companies under the group with a total registered capital of 300 million yuan, and made high-profile donations of 6.3 million yuan to charities. Her sudden wealth and fame caused a sensation in Chinese media and there were wild speculations of the source of her apparent wealth.[1]
In 2006, aged only 25, she was ranked by the influential Hurun Report as the sixth-richest woman and the 68th richest person in China, with a net worth of 3.6 billion yuan (US$ 567 million)[4][3][2]
[edit] Arrest and trialsWu Ying was arrested in February 2007 for illegal fundraising and fraud,[5] and was tried in April 2009 at the Intermediate People's Court in Jinhua, a prefecture-level city that administers Dongyang. She was initially charged with illegal fundraising, with a maximum sentence of 15 years imprisonment, but the charges were later changed to the more serious crime of financial fraud, which in China is punishable by death.[2]
The indictment alleged that between May 2005 and February 2007, Wu Ying had illegally raised 770 million yuan from the public by promising them high investment returns, and only 380 million yuan was recovered when she was arrested.[4] Wu Ying's attorney Yang Zhaodong, however, contested that she merely borrowed the money from 11 of her friends and invested the funds in profitable businesses.[2] In December 2009 the court found her guilty and sentenced her to death.[4] Wu Ying appealed to the Zhejiang Provincial Court, but on 18 January 2012 the provincial court upheld the conviction and the death penalty. Her death sentence is now subject to final review by the Supreme Court of China as required by law.[4][3]
