Heraklion Archaeological Museum
The Heraklion Archaeological Museum is a museum located in Heraklion on Crete. It is one of the greatest museums in Greece[1] and the best in the world for Minoan art, as it contains the most notable and complete collection of artifacts of the Minoan civilization of Crete. Most of the frescos and sculptures are no longer at the archaeological site of Knossos and are housed in the museum. The two really go together as a unit.

Heraklion Archaeological Museum, located in the city centre, is one of the largest and most important museums both in Greece and Europe. The building was constructed between the years 1937 – 1940 by the architect Patroklos Karantinos. The modern building, symbol of modernist architecture is awarded by Bauhaus. Its foundations lies on the remnants of the Roman Catholic monastery of Saint-Francis which was destroyed by earthquake in 1856. It consists of 27 halls in two storeys.
The permanent collection houses representative artifacts from Cretan Prehistory and History, covering a chronological span of over 5,500 years. Most objects date to the so-called Minoan period, named after the island's mythical king, Minos. Pottery, carved stone objects, seals, small sculpture, metal objects and of course the famous wall-paintings are displayed on museum's expanse. The museum, beyond the chronological grading, follows an extrovert narration with social, ideological and economic aspects with a strong focus on religious and ceremonial practices and daily life.

The last place I visited is called Clichy-on archeology museum. A world renowned artefacts are on display in the European civilization of Crete are the best relics here. 20 showrooms all. The exhibition gotta away from the Neolithic artifacts because the temporary collapse of civilization by natural disasters gotta relics are preserved intact. 7000 years before the relics are on display and, under the influence of the Eastern gold jewelery, wall paintings to Crete to see the life of a person, often beyond that kind immeasurable. This is a bull head made of glass that was used in the ritual about the 16th century BC. Cut the black stones to create a head, horns was a gold-plated in wood.

Heraklion Archaeological Museum 1
Heraklion & Knossos, the Capital of Crete and an Ancient Historical Site
Heraklion is the major city and capital of the largest Greek island of Crete. Its Archaeological Museum holds the remains of the 3000-year old Minoan civilization, which grew around the nearby legendary palace of Knossos, as well as Byzantine churches and a well-preserved Venetian wall and fortress from the 15th century.
Heraklion is the capital of Crete and an industrialised city of around 155,000 residents. The modern city is densely populated and traffic chocked, at first overwhelming the visitor. However, in recent years, things have began to change and efforts are being made to bring out the beauty of the city's rich cultural history. Strolling along the coastline, the city Wall, or down a park can reveal various historical remains of potentially immense interest to the watchful eye. The knowledgeable visitor will be able to trace the past under the urban sprawl of the present. The core of the city is still enclosed and defined by the Venetian wall, which includes seven outjutting bastions. In the southernmost of these, the Martinengo Bastion, is the grave of Nikos Kazantzakis standing on a windswept hilltop with its moving inscription, I hope for nothing. I fear nothing. I am free.
Knossos is the site of the most important and best known Minoan palace complex in Crete. It is located some 5 km south of Heraklion. According to tradition, Knossos was the seat of the legendary Cretan king Minos. The Palace is also connected with further legends, such as the myth of the Labyrinth and the Minotaur, as well as the story of Daidalos and Ikaros. Excavation has revealed that the site was continuously inhabited from the Neolithic period until Roman times.

Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο του Ηρακλείου Κρήτης - Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, Crete
Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, Crete.

Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, Crete.
The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is the museum in which almost Minoan civilization is present. It is one of the largest and most remarkable museums in Greece and one of the most important in Europe [1]. His exhibits include representative samples from all periods of Cretan prehistory and history, covering about 5,500 years, from the Neolithic to the Roman times. A dominant position in his collections holds the unique masterpieces of Minoan art. The collection of Minoan antiquities is the most important in the world, and the museum is considered to be the premier museum of Minoan civilization.
The first archaeological collection in Heraklion was created in 1883. In 1900 it was housed in two rooms in the courtyard of the metropolis of Agios Minas. With the opening of major excavations in Crete, he included the first major findings, while at the same time he was granted to the Cretan State. [2]
In 1904-1907, the first museum hall was built, and in 1908, after the addition of a second room, antiquities were transferred there.
The current building was started in 1937 by Patroklos Karantinos.
