Herberton Historic Village
This video gives you are small taste of what you will see at Herberton Historic Village in North Queensland...a very small taste. Google it and find out where it is. If you go to Cairns you should not miss checking this place out.
I had so much fun going here and would recommend everyone and anyone to go check it out. It is definitely worth the drive, especially if you love Antiques.
All the buildings are old buildings that have been moved to the property and as far as I know none of the things are replicas, and are actual antiques (which is really quite rare to see such a large collection).
My favourite parts were the chemist, the school house, and the printing presses. I also loved seeing all the old advertising signs. My mum and dad were pointing things out in each building and telling me all about it and what things were, etc as alot of these things were from when they were kids. I even saw books I had read back in school, which made me feel a bit old at 26. lol. There were kids running around and looking at everything. It was so wonderful to see them enjoying the place and seeing their parents share things from their past with their young children.
Anyway. I hope you like the video and I hope it gives you the urge to check it out. :D

The Chambers of the Black Hand - Lightning Ridge
Tim Smith from Discover Downunder uncovers the mystery of the Chambers of the Black Hand, one of Lightning Ridge's top tourist attractions. 35 feet below ground level, it's a bit like a whirlwind trip through time and history thanks to the vivid imagination of sculptor Ron Canlin. Explore Egyptian burial chambers, African jungles and a wall of Hollywood fame all in the cavernous underbelly of the Chambers of the Black Hand. Ron started his work 16 years ago and he excavates all the rooms out before creating his sculptures. It's a total labour of love.
Back above ground, what better way to end a dusty day down the mines than a soak in the open air baths? Open 24/7, they are free of charge and located just 300 metres from the Opal Caravan Park.
Maytown
The Palmer river is formed by the confluence of Prospect Crk and Campbell Crk near the Palmer river roadhouse.
The river descends 365 metres over it's 327 kilometre course and has a catchment area of over 8 000 square kilometres.
In 1872 pastoralists/explorers William and Frank Hann reported finding traces of gold on the Palmer river and the following year an experienced prospector, James Mulligan confirmed alluvial gold was plentiful.
Originally called Edwardstown after the local butcher, Jack Edwards, the town was surveyed in 1875 by AC Macmillan who named it Maytown after his daughter. In 1876 there were 12 hotels, 6 stores, 3bakers, 3 tobacconists, Edwards the butcher a lemonade factory and a surgeon.

Elderslie House
If adventurer, miner and entrepreneur John Newell was alive today, chances are his Irish eyes would be smiling. His beloved home, which once stood on the hill near the present day Mount St Bernard College overlooking the tin-mining town of Herberton he founded in the1880s, is set to once again echo to the sounds of footsteps and voices. Elderslie House has been painstakingly restored to her former glory and is now the proud “jewel in the crown” of the Historic Village Herberton.

WWII Bunker Coffs Harbour
A WWII Bunker located on the beach at Coffs Harbour. Possibly either a Machine Gun bunker or a RAN Watching Station or similar.
Apologies for the poor audio. It was very windy.
Someone called H. McClelland, 24 Gipps St, Wollongong has written their name in the wet cement possibly when this small bunker was being erected during WWII.
Does anyone know for sure what it was used for?
