WALK: Malvern Hills | Worcestershire Beacon | Herefordshire Beacon
We took a quick drive to Great Malvern, to do a 'little' walk around the Malvern Hills. We had done it before, but not all the way from Malvern, to Herefordshire Beacon.
We had a little picnic lunch, but my drone wasn't behaving, so drone footage would have been nice.
22km and more than 7 hours later....
But I found ICE CREAM !!!

Herefordshire Beacon British Camp Malvern Hills Walks In Herefordshire, England, UK
Herefordshire Beacon British Camp Walk was about 8 miles in distance. The terrain of the route included hill and woodland paths and tracks, some short road sections plus a tarmac paths. The walking was challenging with plenty of hills which were sometimes steep. Route finding was easy with obvious paths, plus good waymarking and landmarks. There were no stiles to negotiate.

The Malvern Hills from the Herefordshire Beacon
South of Worcester are the Malvern Hills AONB. They cover parts of Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire counties. The Malvern Hills are especially popular for hiking as there are many paths and ridge walks with outstanding views. The hills run along the Herefordshire - Worcestershire border for just over 8 miles. The highest point is the Worcestershire Beacon (in Worcestershire) at 1,394 feet.
The Herefordshire Beacon itself is surrounded by an Iron Age hill fort earthworks known as British Camp and is near to Little Malvern (and the Little Malvern Priory) with Ledbury just 4 miles to the south west. It is just one of the many peaks along the Malvern Hills at a height of 1,109 feet.
Parking available just off the A449 and near The Malvern Hills Hotel.
Here we can mainly see the Malvern Hills west side in evening sunlight.

For my third walk in the Malvern Hills in 2019 I visit the delightful Little Malvern Priory tucked away under the hills. My walk takes me across Castlemorton Common to join the main ridge of the Malverns at Swinyard Hill to eventually reach the peak of today’s hills, the spectacular Herefordshire Beacon with its Iron Age fort known as British Camp…..

Locations include British Camp Reservoir, Little Malvern Priory, Castlemorton Common, Swinyard Hill, Clutter’s Cave, Millennium Hill, Herefordshire Beacon and British Camp. This is the third in a series of six films shot in the Malvern Hills during 2019.

A brief walk over the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire with accompanying music from Edward Elgar's March No. 4 from Pomp and Circumstance.
Apologies for the video footage, it was taken on my cheap and cheerful Flip camera which is about a zillion years old!
This little walk of 12 miles was done from the Malvern Link train station then up to the North Bank then across the ridges, over Wyche Cutting and to the car park beneath the British Camp...and back again to the station.
The music is part of Edward Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance Marches to which this is March No. 4 dating back to 1907.

The beautiful county of Worcestershire is the home of the Malvern Hills. They are a great way to get fit for both young and old. There are many different paths to get to the top (the Beacon) some easy others hard, especially if you take all the ridges and don't cheat!
The views are spectacular, but today was a little misty, only clearing up towards the end of my walk. On a clear day you can see forever! More on the Malverns here:
Obviously, I don't own the music being played but I hope YT doesn't take offence to me sharing this masterpiece with the world. It won't be able to be seen in Germany for some reason and there are a few devices that won't allow it either, such as mobile phones and some tablets. Desktop should be OK though and there may be some adverts along the bottom at first. That's the price we pay for using copyrighted material.
I'm a hiker, hill walker and just plain old walker who appreciates the beauty of this Country. If you have a chance, drop in on The Malverns and take a good walk around the hills and town...I'm sure you will benefit from both.

Therefore, five years after that visit, I return to begin exploring the Malverns much more thoroughly. My walk today takes in the generally level countryside around the Gloucestershire village of Bromesberrow, before I ascend the very first of the magnificent Malvern Hills…..

Taking a slight detour on my way home from visiting family I explore a little of Herefordshire and Worcestershire. After visiting a quaint village and town my main reason for the detour is to explore a small part of the magnificent Malvern Hills. The personal family story I began to tell in the previous episode is also continued here.
