FREE Hershey Chocolate Factory Tour | Hershey, PA
I was in Pennsylvania with my parents for my cousin's wedding and we made a side trip to the Hershey Chocolate Factory to check out their free tour. It was informative and fun. Highly recommend it for families and all chocolate lovers.
The tour is free and takes about 10 minutes. Including lunch, we spent about 2 hours there. We hear the line is much longer in the summer, so it looks like Fall or Winter may be the best time to go.
Thanks to my parents for driving! Thanks to my cousin for giving us an excuse to go to Pennsylvania! And thanks to my uncle for having a birthday so we could buy him that giant Hershey bar (which was shared with the entire family and is the reason this didn't get uploaded right away - we didn't want to spoil the surprise).

Chocolate Overload!!! - All 5 Attractions at Hershey's Chocolate World - Hershey, PA
A visit to Hershey's Chocolate World is the perfect way to learn about the town of Hershey, Pennsylvania. We purchased the Adventure pass, which allowed us entrance to all four paid attractions in the building and gave us a free parking pass. We began our day at the all new Hershey Unwrapped - a stage attraction that helped us to use all of our senses to indulge in chocolate tasting. The 4D Chocolate Movie took us into the factory with the characters of chocolate world to solve a fun mystery. Next we boarded the trolley - a ride all around the city that taught us the history and story behind Milton Hershey. This was the highlight attraction, as it was extremely well done and interactive with characters, chocolates and music throughout. We took the free factory ride - an animated tour of how chocolate is made before heading into the chocolate factory ourselves to make our own candy bar. The kids loved watching their candy and chocolate selections roll down the conveyer belt and be created before their very eyes. And yes, we walked away with plenty of delicious Hershey chocolate!

Flying over Hershey, Pennsylvania! The Sweetest Place on Earth. The community is home to The Hershey Company, which makes the well-known Hershey Bar and Hershey's Kisses and is the parent company of the H. B. Reese Candy Company, manufacturer of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Hershey's Chocolate World is a factory store and virtual tour ride of The Hershey Company. The original Hershey Chocolate Factory, located downtown along Chocolate Avenue, was closed in 2012 due to high operational costs and has since been demolished.
Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company owns and operates Hersheypark, Hersheypark Stadium, and other attractions such as ZooAmerica and Hershey Gardens, and is a major employer of the community and surrounding area.
The Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and the Milton Hershey School for underprivileged youth are also located in Hershey.
The Pennsylvania State Police Academy is located north along Hersheypark Drive. In addition, the Derry Township Police Department is a nationally recognized law enforcement agency.
Hershey is also home to four world-class golf courses, a few museums, and an opulent spa.
Hersheypark Stadium hosts concerts and sporting events, with a capacity of 30,000. It is also the venue of the Cocoa Bean Game between the Hershey High School and Milton S. Hershey High School football teams.

Pennsylvania:Hershey’s Chocolate World
Hershey’s Chocolate World is located in Hershey, Pennsylvania, United States.
Open year-round, Hershey's Chocolate World offers marketplace shops and restaurants, specializing in Hershey's chocolate products. Attractions include Hershey's Great Chocolate Factory Mystery in 4D, the Hershey Trolley Works, Wrap Happiness, and a free Chocolate Tour ride. This first Hershey's Chocolate World includes Hersheypark, Hersheypark Stadium, Hersheypark Arena, Hershey Museum, and Giant Center. The Las Vegas location is where the Broadway Theatre used to be.
Hershey's Chocolate Tour - An Endless Transit System-style dark ride special system manufactured by Arrow Development, and themed by R. Duell and Associates, which opened on June 30, 1973. This ride is an original attraction, showing a simulation of the chocolate making process. Since opening, the ride has been updated numerous times, and as of 2016, the ride features multiple singing cows. The tour is free of charge and concludes with a free sample of a Hershey's product. A ride photo is available for purchase. This attraction is only available in Hershey.
Create-Your-Own Candy Bar - A factory experience attraction for all ages. Guests wear a hair-net and apron as they enter an actual manufacturing line atmosphere and will get to choose from a number of inclusion ingredients to add to their own personal chocolate bar. As the bar makes its journey down the assembly line, guests will design and personalize the package that their bar will be placed in. This attraction is replaced with the Create-Your-Own Hershey's Chocolate Wrapper in the Las Vegas version, at which visitors will create their own wrapper and it is wrapped in a Hershey's Bar.
Hershey Trolley Works - Most commonly spotted on the streets of Hershey is the fern green, old-fashioned trolley. Added in 1988, the trolley, with singing conductors, departs for a round-trip tour of Hershey, pointing out historical and cultural observations along the way. Shows leave throughout the day and paid admission is required for this attraction. The 60-minute History and Chocolate Tour is available year-round, the entertaining Trolley Adventure tour runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and the Christmas Adventure shows during the Christmas season. This attraction is not available in the Las Vegas version along with the Chocolate Tour.
Hershey's Chocolate Tasting Group Experience Patrons learn the art of chocolate tasting as the Chocolatier guides them through an interactive discussion of chocolate lore. Guests try samples of the chocolate ranging from creamy milk to robust dark and everything in between. All attendees receive a gift. This attraction is not available in the Las Vegas version along with the Chocolate Tour and the Hershey Trolley Works. Instead, visitors can get samples when they walk in.
Hershey's Great Chocolate Factory Mystery in 4D - Added on May 4, 2013, this attraction replaces the Really Big 3-D Show and features Hershey, Reese, and Kiss. The show is a collaboration between The Hershey Company and Jim Henson's Creature Shop and The Henson Digital Puppetry Studio. The show is designed as an interactive experience with Hershey product characters with a reported 100+ versions of the story. This show also features the new redesigned Hershey Product Characters. This attraction is not available in the Las Vegas version along with the Chocolate Tour, the Hershey Trolley Works, and the Hershey's Chocolate Tasting Group Experience.
Hershey's Unwrapped Theatrical Show - Added on May 20, 2019. It is a 30-minute theatrical show at the “Hershey Academy.”
The rest of Hershey's Chocolate World contains various shops selling Hershey souvenirs and chocolate, and several counter service meal locations (Dessert Creation Studio, Hershey's Courtyard Food Court, and Hershey's Ice Cream Shop). The main candy store is one of the largest stores of its kind in the world selling Hershey's products including new items not widely released, and premium chocolate brands such as Scharffen Berger Chocolate.

Chocolate World:
Hershey’s Chocolate World is the name of eight visitor centers that started in Hershey, Pennsylvania, United States.
The first Hershey's Chocolate World is located off of Hersheypark Drive, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and is in an entertainment complex that also includes Hersheypark, Hersheypark Stadium, Hersheypark Arena, Hershey Museum, and Giant Center. The Las Vegas location is where the Broadway Theatre used to be.
Although Hersheypark and Chocolate World are in the same complex, both operate independently of each other. Chocolate World is owned by The Hershey Company (formerly Hershey Foods), while Hersheypark is owned by Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company (HE&R). However, the Hershey Company and HE&R are both owned by the Hershey Trust Company.
Parking is available via a separate lot that is free for the first three hours only, or via the Hersheypark parking lot (when the park is open), which offers a tram service to and from Hershey's Chocolate World. While the facility is open year-round (except Christmas), hours vary depending on the season, ranging anywhere from 9 am to 11 pm.
History:
Hershey's Chocolate World was built as a replacement of the Hershey chocolate plant tour, which had reached its capacity and was no longer able to handle the large numbers of visitors per year. The facility opened on June 30, 1973, and took inspiration from World's Fair pavilions. Through its first year of operations, Chocolate World had over 1.4 million visitors.
On June 1, 1986, the visitor's center welcomed its 20 millionth visitor.
A $4.5 million update to the chocolate-making tour ride opened in 1988, featuring a curious robot for a host named CP-1. It was phased out within a year. In the mid-1990s, the ride saw numerous revisions on a small scale, including the removal of several show elements. The last renovation occurred in early 2016 when several scenes in the chocolate tour ride were replaced. Today, there are still portions of the ride that have changed very little from the 1978 updated version, including the sorting and cleaning, roll refining, milling, and chocolate conching scenes.
The building features brownstone quarried out of Hummelstown, a neighboring town.
In 2014, the retail area received major renovations as well as a new entrance and queue area for Hershey's Chocolate Tour. Following the June 3, 2014 opening of its Las Vegas location, Hershey then rebranded all other visitor centers worldwide under the Hershey's Chocolate World name.
In July 2016, it was announced that Hershey's Chocolate World would expand to a new location in Times Square and would open in late 2017.
