Hever Castle Kent
Hever Castle in Kent was our destination on a sunny day in June. The grounds are truly magnificent, one of many highlights was the rose garden. It was the childhood home of Ann Boylene and is steeped in history. Check out their official website for more information.
STAYING AT ANNE BOLEYN'S CHILDHOOD TUDOR HOME | HEVER CASTLE | Alex Gladwin
For our fifth wedding anniversary, Adam and I treated ourselves and booked the best room at Anne Bolyen's childhood home - Hever Castle in Kent. For a Tudor fan like me, it was everything I had hoped for and more! We had the best time and we'll definitely take the boys there and go back after such an utterly incredible weekend!
Thank you for watching. ♡

Hi I'm Alex! I started writing a blog back in 2013 as a way to capture my thoughts, feelings and emotions as I married my childhood sweetheart and we had our first child. I'm now a Mum of two little boys (Ethan & Logan) and I've continued writing, photographing and videoing ever since as a way to remember all of the little details that make up this amazing journey of Motherhood.
I am a part of Channel Mum, a community of super friendly, real Mums on YouTube who like to share the honest face of parenting. You can catch up with our videos and find out what we're all about over at channelmum.com.
Hever Castle, Kent, England
Hever Castle is about 30 miles south-east of London. It was built in the 13th century, as a country house, (not a fortified castle). It's smaller than a military fortress, but maintains many of the features. (A drawbridge and portcullis.... for guests?) Despite the ambiguous history, this is clearly one of the most picturesque landmarks of Britain. Scholars, and celebrities, call it a favorite.
Anne Boleyn, 2nd queen consort to Henry VIII, spend her youth here. The castle is full of references to Henry, Anne, and the ill-fated wives.
Visitors can wander the magnificent halls. Ample historical information is provided through media, and a helpful staff, (some in costume).
The gardens are a central attraction. The estate includes a lovely lake, specialty gardens, and an Italian garden with bits of neoclassical architecture.
