Canoe Camping at Hidden Lake, outside Yellowknife, NWT. MSR Dragonfly and Hubba Hubba.
Just a quickie from an overnighter we did, after finally getting back to Hidden Lake. No fish, no fire, but still a good time. Saw a forest fire, bear droppings, plovers, loons, turns, gull, ducks and a few nude campers. The water back here is crystal clear, the scenery is great, and the feeling of isolation is nice. Barbara had a nice swim, I got to play with our new MSR Dragonfly stove and we both slept well. Wish I got some more video, but it just whets my appetite to go back. Hope you guys like it. And from us both here, Happy Canada Day!
Yellowknife NT - Aerial view of Cameron Falls
Taken July 18 2015. Watch in HD for better viewing.
Cameron Falls is located within Hidden Lake Territorial Park, on the Ingraham Trail. It is approximately 47 km east of Yellowknife.
There is a small parking lot with pit toilet facilities, at the start of a 20 minute hike along a well marked trail to Cameron Falls. The falls are worth a visit at all times of the year. In winter the falls are frozen right over. In spring, melt-waters roar under the ice. Water levels in summer have been known to drop low enough to allow walking across the falls above the overhang. And in the fall the changing colours of the leaves are always a good reason to bring along your camera.
ATTRACTIONS & POINTS OF INTEREST:
It is possible to hike upstream from Cameron Falls to the Cameron River Ramparts Waterfalls, a distance of 8 or 9 km. The trail is not well developed, but the river is relatively easy to follow and the route is obvious.
If you choose to follow the north (far) side of the river, there is a foot bridge at Cameron Falls, which also offers access into the rest of Hidden Lake Park. You will have to re-cross the river at the Ingraham Trail bridge at Cameron River Crossing, a short ways upstream from the Ramparts.
The park offers access for canoeists to the Lower Cameron River Canoe Route, one of the Ingraham Trail Canoe Routes.- NWTParks.ca

Flying around Hidden Lake on a weekend camping trip
Hidden Lake NWT
Dive Date: 12 Aug 2016
Location: Hidden Lake.
The water in Hidden Lake is amazing for visibility. At some points I was seeing 30-40 feet. This clip was taken from a depth of 6 feet, and shows the view looking downward.
At one point there is a drop off of about 50feet. Although I knew I wouldn't fall, going over the edge of a drop off still causes a impulsive oh crap self preservation response. Love this dive location!!!!

Was going to camp out for the whole long weekend, but too wet to waste it all under a tarp, so only went for a day. But maybe I’ll get some video of the newest member of the family??? Stay tuned!!!
Canoeing to Hidden Lake
When the offer of borrowing a car came up, we jumped at the chance. Powder Point is 45 km down the Ingraham Trail from Yellowknife. Some paddling & three portages and three hours later we were at Hidden Lake. An amazing spot to camp and miles from any roads or civilization.

Wanted to test out my new Panasonic HC-X920 last weekend and figured I'd go check out Cameron Falls where the spring thaw is ongoing, making for some interesting snow and ice shots.

LIARD HOT SPRINGS - DAY 3 ALASKA HIGHWAY - LeAw Vlog #043
Welcome to our channel! We are Sara and Luca, Italian couple and travel storytellers!

Day 3: we are traveling on the Alaska Highway (or Alcan Highway). After sleeping ( boondocking ) in a beautiful spot in the bush, with an amazing view of the Lower Liard River Bridge (elev. 1,400 feet/427m), the only remaining suspension bridge on the Alaska Highway. The 1,143-foot suspension bridge was built in 1943. We've done just 800m and we stopped at the must-see stop Liard River Hot Springs.
The Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park was created in April 1957. The first boardwalk and pool facilities were built by the United States Army in 1942. The Liard River Hot Springs proper are located at 59°25′40″N 126°06′15″W.
They were originally named the Theresa Hot Springs.
The park contains a warm water swamp and boreal forest which supports rich and diverse plant communities as well as mammal and bird species. Watch for moose feeding in the warm water swamps. Bears, as well, are a common hazard in summer months, and may be feeding only 10 feet away from bathers. Due to the lush plant life (including 14 species of orchids) influenced by the warmth of the springs, the area was originally known as the Tropical Valley.
There are two hot springs with water temperatures ranging from 42 to 52 °C (108 to 126 °F); the nearest is the Alpha pool. Beta pool is beyond Alpha and is larger, cooler and deeper. As of 2013, Beta pool has been permanently closed due to bear traffic, and the boardwalk leading to it has been removed. There are raised walkways from the parking area to the springs so that the delicate muskeg that forms the swamp is not disturbed. The walkway was the scene of a much-publicized black bear attack that killed two tourists on August 14, 1997.
The park is located at mile 475 (or km 765) on the Alaska Highway, between Fort Nelson (307 km south-east) and Watson Lake (218 km north-west).The community of Liard River is just west of the park, at the 499 Milepost.

Leave everything and wander” is the result of Sara Bertagnolli’s and Luca Sguazzini’s desire to join their own skills and realize a dream: that of traveling, leaving the certainties and securities of everyday life behind.
After university Sara achieved high-level professional goals in the field of management and became the personal assistant to the fashion designer Philipp Plein.
Luca has been traveling a lot since he was a child and the last year he gained notoriety for his participation in the Italian version of “Dancing with the stars”; he has more than 138k followers on Instagram and 50k on Facebook.
They have decided to join forces and to tell a life out of the ordinary on social networks. The plan is to travel through Canada, Alaska and, in a second moment, United States, Messico and South America and to share the trip’s photos and videos on Youtube, Facebook and Instagram, giving to everyone the possibility to experience the “wander-spirit”.
Traveling without temporal or spatial limits will give Sara and Luca the possibility to entangle their story with that of people they will meet on the road and to discover new cultures, visiting also the places which are not famous, the ones which often have the biggest surprises in store.
The start-up budget will be limited in order to demonstrate that – also without great economical resources – everything is possible if you put the work in and involve as many people as possible.
