Getting to mom's hometown of Nemuro on the easternmost tip of Hokkaido takes most a day. We take a JR train from Sapporo to Kushiro, then a tiny one-car train on a narrow track to Nemuro. It's a beautiful scenic ride.

New Harbour Hotel in Nemuro, Japan
Video #10 of 34 of our 2011 trip to Japan. My Uncle Kazuya books the New Harbour Hotel when we visit Nemuro, because it's right across the street from his house. Erin and I stayed in a top-floor room that was huge by Japanese hotel standards, and had a balcony and a great Japanese-style bath, plus of course the popular Japanese washing toilet that squirts water at your parts. The breakfast buffet wasn't the best we had during the trip, but it was still our favorite hotel during the entire trip. (We stayed at some much more expensive ones too!) 이 지역은 초보자 누구나 송어를 잡을 수 있을만큼 개체수가 많다.
그러나 이 지역에서 낚시를 하려면 낚시 허가증이 있어야 하는데, 가격은 1500엔이다. 허가증 구매하지 못하여도 징수원이 수시로 다니기 때문에 구매하면 된다.
숙소는 저렴한 여관인 동방관이 제격이다. 하루 7만원

まだ子供が0歳の時に、北海道ドライブ旅行に行った時の記録です。
釧路湿原、厚岸、納沙布岬、東根室駅、根室港、硫黄山、川湯温泉、屈斜路湖、摩周湖、阿寒湖、旭川、美瑛、夕張に行きました。
カキフライ、さんま丼、ラムしゃぶ、ヒメマス丼、マリモソフトクリーム、バター醤油ラーメン、夕張メロンなど、北海道ならではの食べ物を食べました。
When our son was 9 months old, we went to Hokkaido, rented a car there, and drove around. We went to Kushiro-shitsugen(swamp), Akkeshi, Nosappu-misaki(cape), Higashi-nemuro Station, Nemuro Port, Mt. Iou(active volcano), Kawayu-Onsen (hot spring), Kussharo-ko(lake), Mashuu-ko(lake), Akan-ko(lake), Asahikawa, Biei and Yubari. We had Oyster Fries, Sanma-don(saury on bowl of rice), Lamb-shabu(dipping raw lamb in hot water), Himemasu-don(hokanee on bowl of rice), aegagropila ice cream, Butter-shouyu Ramen (noodles with soup based on butter and soy source), Yubari melon, all of which are Hokkaido's local food and things.

On the train to Nemuro
Video # 8 of 34 of our 2011 trip to Japan. It takes almost four hours and two trains to get form Sapporo to Nemuro, my mom's home town. First we take a regular commuter-style train to Kushiro, the second-largest city in the northern island of Hokkaido. Then we take an hour-and-a-half ride on a one-car, narrow gauge train that runs through great scenery, from farmland to hills to forests to alongside the ocean. Fall has definitely arrived in Hokkaido, although the rest of our trip, especially in Kyoto, was hot and summer-like. Check my blog, nikkeiview.com
