Seto Ohashi Bridge, the great bridge connecting Shikoku to Okayama Prefecture in Honshu, has its southernmost “foot” on Shamijima Island (沙弥島), located in the Seto Inland Sea off the coast of Kagawa Prefecture, Shikoku. Originally a tiny island on its own, Shamijima was connected to the larger landmass by reclaimed land in 1967. This peaceful island boasts a small fishing village, museums, beaches, temples and of course, a magnificent view of the Seto Ohashi.
Though small, this island has many points of interest for its visitors. The Higashiyama Kaii Setouchi Art Museum displays the artwork of Higashiyama Kaii, a landscape painter. His artwork is rotated seasonally with two annual special exhibits held in the spring and autumn.

Kyoto, Japan, Temple Gardens: Fushimi-Inari-Taisha, Tofuku-ji, Maruyama Park
Kyoto is Japan’s majestic city of ancient temples, serene gardens and superb cultural treasures. Your most enjoyable activity will probably be strolling through artistically designed garden landscapes with their winding paths, tranquil ponds, stately trees, lush vegetation and traditional wooden temples, including Fushimi-Inari-Taisha, Tofuku-ji and Maruyama Park.
The sublime gardens unfold as you walk along paths that lead through changing vistas around each bend, where you can stop frequently to absorb each new perspective looking left, right, up and down. The different views are enhanced by small statues, foot-bridges, bamboo railings, temple back-drops and glimpses of distant mountains, all exquisitely arranged to be appreciated in moments of reflection.
Kyoto was ranked as the number one visitor destination in the world by the readers of Travel and Leisure magazine for two years in a row in 2014 and 2015, quite an honor.
More than 50 million visitors come to Kyoto each year, most of them are just staying for the day then moving on, but about 1 million of them do spend the night in a local hotel -- there are lots of accommodations of all price ranges -- and most of the visitors are Asian. No doubt with the growth of Chinese travel these numbers are going to continue increasing.
These crowds of visitors could very much interfere with your appreciation of Kyoto’s heavenly gardens. So, try to visit during the less-busy late fall or early spring in order to properly experience the tranquil garden atmosphere.
This movie is a combination and expansion of some earlier shorter videos on Kyoto.

Hagi Castle, Yamaguchi in Cherry Blossom Season - 山口県萩城跡✿指月公園 - Japan As It Truly Is
The remains of Hagi Castle in Yamaguchi become one of southern Honshu's best sakura spots, and is an often overlooked gem.
Hagi is a city on the Sea of Japan side with a large historical significance, especially from the late 19th Century. After the Meiji Restoration though, the feudal age was drawn to a close and numerous beautiful castles were destroyed...this one in 1874. Today however you can see the beautiful Shizuki Park with a unique variety of cherry blossoms.

Ikeda Zoo,Okayama,Japan: Sad, Lonely, Bored Brown Bear Pacing To and Fro in an Old Small Cage.
This brown bear lives 24/7 in this small old cage in Ikeda Zoo.
It is pacing and stretching because it has no activity, exercise or stimulation except when food comes into it's cage via a tube when a visitor puts money in a slot.
Ikeda zoo is a typical Japanese Zoo where most animals are kept in a restricted unnatural environment for the entertainment of visitors and can have no educational value whatsoever.
As European zoos are closing or providing Enrichment Programmes for animals and deciding not to keep certain animals in captivity at all, especially bears, Japan's zoos are stuck in the past.
The management of Ikeda zoo should look at this site and learn how to help this bear live a better life: - zoolex.org/publication/four_paws/090716_enrichment_web.pdf
Higashiyama Drive Way 東山ドライブウェイ
April 30, 2015 - I went on a bike ride up the mountain behind my apartment. I found an abandoned water park, a new religion, and a great look-out for viewing Kyoto.
The road behind my apartment is the end of what's called the Higashiyama Drive Way, which is a tourist route for driving or riding through the Higashiyama Mountains in eastern Kyoto.
