Key West Dog Parks
Key West Dog Beach
This is one of two dog parks currently available in Key West and the only Dog beach. It was a struggle to reach the water as the park was a small gap between buildings that was way overrun with thick washed up seaweed. Although the waves were calm, it was hard to tell where the shallow water and beach started; due to being overrun with seaweed. There was dog bags, tennis balls and fresh water available for your pups!

Key West, a U.S. island city, is part of the Florida Keys archipelago. It's also Florida's southernmost point, lying roughly 90 miles north of Cuba. Famed for its pastel-hued, conch-style houses, it’s a cruise-ship stop also accessible from the mainland via the Overseas Highway. It’s known more for its coral reefs – destinations for diving and snorkeling – than for its beaches.
Key West is the far frontier, edgier and more eccentric than the other keys, and also far more captivating. At its heart, this 7-sq-mile island feels like a beautiful tropical oasis, where the moonflowers bloom at night and the classical Caribbean homes are so sad and romantic it’s hard not to sigh at them.
While it has obvious allure, it's not without its contradictions. On one side of the road, there are literary festivals, Caribbean villas, tropical dining rooms and expensive art galleries. On the other, an S&M fetishist parade, frat boys passing out on the sidewalk and grizzly bars filled with bearded burnouts. With all that in mind, it's easy to find your groove in this setting, no matter where your interests lie. As in other parts of the Keys, nature plays a starring role here, with some breathtaking sunsets – cause for nightly celebration down on Mallory Sq.
The earliest Key West neighborhoods, on the western part of the island, are broadly known as Old Town. The Key West Historic District includes the major tourist destinations of the island, including Mallory Square, Duval Street, the Truman Annex and Fort Zachary Taylor. Old Town is where the classic bungalows and guest mansions are found. Bahama Village, southwest of Whitehead Street, features houses, churches, and sites related to its Afro-Bahamian history. The Meadows, lying northeast of the White Street Gallery District, is exclusively residential.
Key West, the southernmost point in the United States, is famous for watersports, lively nightlife, beaches, historic sites and its pastel, conch-style architechture. Duval Street, one of the most energetic strips of shops, bars and cafes anywhere, offers Sloppy Joe’s bar, a favorite Key West hangout of novelist Ernest Hemingway. And, for the more sober-minded, there's Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum.

Higgs Beach Snorkel - Key West 3
After this video was taking a couple pics and then turned around to find a 4 foot Barracuda stalking me. Normally when ever I have faced a cuda and backed away from it it will get bored and leave.. this one not so much. Was snorkeling not diving so still tried to exhale out mouth to see if bubbles would make him want to leave me alone and if anything it almost seemed to make him more interested in messing with me. So I look up as I'm trying to make sure I'm safe to get to the rocks... take off my fins and put them on my hands to have something between us and think okay this for sure should tell him I'm not wanting to be stalked... umm no so I'm so far down the pier and there are little little kids a little ways down and one lady with a little jack russel so since this cuda is bound and determined he needs to be my in water puppy and follow me home I don't want to have him follow me down where there might be a snack (puppy chow) so climb up on rocks and then the tourist that were kind enough to tell me AFTER I saw the cuda behind me and they had apparently been video tapping it as it was stalking me that they and I quote We were gonna warn ya if if came at ya... Umm thanks was this gonna be BEFORE or after there was maybe a bite so you could sell the video?? Anywhooo they couldn't even help me climb over the rail up to the pier but even with me OUT of the water on the rocks the cuda was STILL following where I was on the rocks. Vids from 4 - 9 are other side of the pier reason for there being a lot of fast pans is wanted to try to keep my back to the pier after my stalker cuda incident.
Bag Monsters at Higgs Beach in Key West
#tenfingerstentoes❤️ Met up with #bagmonster to create awareness of the impact to environment and wildlife while at @marathonturtlehospital rescue release for Harry the turtle.
He was a great gracious guy. He gave me a quick video interview as well about his #pedegonorfolk #pedego bike and how he uses it to perform his work along the coastline of Florida.
#pedego #pedegonorfolk should consider sponsor this hard working hero!

Snorkeling Higgs Beach in Key West
Spent five days snorkeling at Higgs Beach in Key West in early June, 2009. Water was a little murky but not too bad. Shooting video while being rocked around by the water is challenging, so forgive the jittery camera work. This is my favorite place to snorkel because it is an easy shore dive, depth ranging from a few feet to maybe 7 or 8 feet. A rich variety of sea life from sharks, stingrays, barracuda, colorful fish, lush plant life and coral.

Key West Florida - Rest Beach HD
If you had been to the Bahamas the sand in Key West should appeal to you because the sand in Key West is imported by barges from the Bahamas. Key West we were told has no naturally sandy beaches because the reef that would create sand is far off shore so the sand is imported, also Key West has doubled it's original size due to the corp of engineers intervention. The fresh water comes from Miami...I asked.
