Edmonton High Level Bridge Streetcar Round Trip (Trams #930 and #247)
These are strange looking airplanes. They don't have wings, make chukka chukka choo choo noises, and ride on rails. Hmm, they must be what they call... trains.
Anyway, here's a video from my round trip on the Edmonton Radial Railway Society's beautiful vintage streetcars/tram cars. The first car was a 1947 M&MTB W6-class tram - Public Transport Corporation (Melbourne, Australia) tram #930 and the second car was a 1921 Umebachi/Sharyo - Nankai Electric Railway (Osaka, Japan) tram #247 (pictured) (returned to service in 2018). They run on an old CP Rail line from Strathcona to downtown Edmonton, crossing a high-level bridge over the North Saskatchewan River. Excellent views.
This was quite fun and I hope to come back again soon to ride the cars again. Hats off to the Edmonton Radial Railway Society for all of their hard volunteer work keeping these lovely old ladies running.

Bridge construction began in 1910 and completed in 1913. Declared a Historical Monument. Most interesting, the bottom deck is for auto transit, the top deck has three sets of tracks, the middle of which was reserved for Steam Trains, the two outer for Street Cars/Trolleys. Full information is available at Wikipedia. If anyone can get their hands on a copy of Edmonton's Remarkable High Level Bridge by Eric J. Holmgren, please let me know.

Edmonton High Level Bridge Streetcar
Take a ride into Edmonton's past. The history of streetcars in Edmonton dates back to the very first streetcar ride in November 1908. The Edmonton Radial Railway (as it was known) became famous throughout North America because of the unique streetcar ride over the North Saskatchewan River, the highest river crossing by streetcar in the world.

Moving the Osaka #247 Streetcar from Fort Edmonton Park Line to the High Level Bridge Line
On Wednesday, September 20, 2017, the Edmonton Radial Railway Society moved their Japanese streetcar, which was originally from Osaka (大阪), from their Fort Edmonton Park Line to their High Level Bridge Line. This car was actually the first car the ERRS operated on the High Level Bridge Line, however it has been parked in the Fort Edmonton Streetcar Barn for the past six years. Today, it made its triumphant return! This presentation shows photos and videos of the process of moving the car.
For more details about ERRS operations, please see
