A church shaped like a high-heeled shoe has been built in Chiayi County in southern Taiwan in a gambit by local tourism authorities to attract more female visitors.
The structure, located at Ocean View Park in Budai Township, is made from 320 panes of blue-tinted glass and stands 17 meters tall and 11 meters wide.
Though it was originally given the name Cinderella High-Heel Church, the glass shoe is actually an installation artwork with no religious function.
The name was a play on the story of Cinderella, who is found by her Prince Charming by virtue of the glass slipper she left behind at the royal ball.

Located in Budai Haijing Park in Chiayi, High-Heel Wedding Church is the “tallest high-heeled-shape building in the world”, according to Guinness World Records. The exterior of the church is transparent water blue. People may go inside the church. Surrounding the church are several artistic installations, which are hotspots for photos. It is hoped that every visitor gets their own happiness.

Glass High Heel Church Becomes a Hit Before Opening In Taiwan
A newly completed high heel-shaped church in Taiwan has been attracting large numbers of visitors even before it's been officially opened to the public.
Located in the Southwest Coast Scenic Area in Jiayi, southwestern Taiwan, the huge “high-heel” church is 17m high and 11m wide, and made of 320 pieces of glass.
Especially tailored to appeal to female visitors and ideal for romantic photographs, the church is adorned with many attractive design features such as chairs for lovers, maple leaves, biscuits and cakes.
According to director of the Southwest Coast Scenic Area, the church is expected to open in February of this year during the Spring Festival.

This Giant Shoe in Taiwan is Actually a Church
A shoe of epic proportions, covered with bright blue panes of glass!
This new structure, to be used as a wedding hall, has been erected by officials from Taiwan’s coastal Chiayi county. It’s dedicated to the victims of ‘blackfoot disease’ in the 1950s. For many, the illness was so severe that their feet turned dark purple and amputation was the only treatment. Many women faced discrimination and were unable to marry or start families, let alone wear high-heeled shoes.
The 55 foot-tall (17 metre) structure will open shortly after Chinese New Year (February 8).
