Highland Rising 2019 Part 3 - Finale of the Jacobite and Redcoat conflict at Scottish Folk Museum
The 2019 'Highland Rising' living history event at the Highland Folk Museum near Newtonmore in Scotland, which includes Baile Gean, a 1700s township used as a set to film parts of the popular Outlander TV series. This final part shows the Jacobites approach the Redcoat camp and clash using the famous Highland Change in an attempt to defeat them.
Members of Alan Breck's Volunteer Prestonpans Regiment were there on a training weekend, as both the Redcoats (The Edinburgh City Guard) and the Scottish Jacobites, but also entertaining visitors with a living history performance explaining the lives of Highlanders in the early 1700s in Scotland.
This group of volunteers are a battle re-enactment society founded to promote wider interest in the 1745 Jacobite Rising, and to support the work of the Prestonpans 1745 Heritage Trust. Members include both Jacobites and the Redcoats of the Edinburgh City Guard.

On my way to Inverness last summer, I thought I'd get a wee video of part of the train journey for my Mum. Nearly a year later, I guess I'd better share it with her!

Allan Ward video of the Monklands Ramblers - monklandsramblers.org.uk
Hello, these are the home pages of the Monklands Ramblers Club, one of the largest R.A. clubs in Scotland, and the first Scottish R.A. club on the Internet! We are based in the Monklands area of Central Scotland in North Lanarkshire, some 12 miles east of Glasgow. The two major towns in the area are Airdrie and Coatbridge, and it is from these towns that the majority of our 150+ members come from. There are also a significant number of members from other areas of Lanarkshire, in particular, Hamilton and Blantyre.
The club was formed in the summer of 1985 by a few local people who were interested in hill-walking. At that time the walks were fairly informally organised and people travelled to the walks in cars. Nowadays we are organised into a proper club with a full elected committee. Our members consist of people from all walks of life ranging in age from 20 - 75. We run a 53 seater coach or minibus to all of our walks (which are always covered beforehand by the leaders), we have walks programmes which cover Scotland and northern England and cater for all levels of fitness, and we occasionally go as far afield as Austria for special one-off walking holidays. Monklands Ramblers also has a very active social scene with regular dances, quiz nights and ten-pin bowling outings organised by the committee.
The club has actively and successfully campaigned for rights of way to be maintained and enhanced in the North Lanarkshire area. We have also become very much a part of the local community with frequent acknowledgement of our activities in the local press. The club is extremely successful simply because of the effort and support shown by the members. We consider ourselves a friendly bunch of people who always have a great time irrespective of the unpredictable Scottish weather! We would also be delighted to welcome along any new walkers who may be considering joining us - so come on, contact us today!

Places to see in ( Kingussie - UK )
Kingussie is a small town in the Highland region of Scotland. It is one settlement in the Highland Council ward of Badenoch and Strathspey, and is the capital of the district of Badenoch. It lies beside the A9 road, although the old route of the A9 serves as the town's main street which has been bypassed since 1979. Kingussie is 42 miles (68 km) south of Inverness, 12 miles (19 km) south of Aviemore, and 3 miles (4.8 km) north of Newtonmore, which is its greatest rival in the game of shinty.
The name Kingussie comes from the Gaelic, Ceann a' Ghiuthsaich which means Head of the Pine forest. The ruins of the early 18th century Ruthven Barracks (Historic Scotland; open to visitors at all times) lie near the original site of the village which was moved to avoid the flood plain of the River Spey. The Hanoverian Barracks were built on the site of Ruthven Castle, the seat of the Comyns, Lords of Badenoch in the Middle Ages.
The main railway line to Inverness passes through from Edinburgh, Glasgow and points south. Kingussie railway station is about 200 yards south east of the High Street. In the past few years, the TV series Monarch of the Glen has been filmed in and around the area of Kingussie. Ardverikie Estate, where Monarch of the Glen was filmed, is about 12 miles (19 km) from Kingussie. The Highland Wildlife Park is sited very close by. The Highland Folk Museum is in Newtonmore, 3 miles (4.8 km) from Kingussie.
The Speyside Way is a long distance route which currently has its southern terminus at Aviemore, north of Kingussie. There is, however, a proposed extension to the route to Newtonmore, going through Kingussie on the way. Kingussie is mentioned in Compton Mackenzie's book The Monarch of the Glen, on which the BBC TV series is based. In chapter 8 Kingussie Sanatorium, now St. Vincent's Hospital, is mentioned.
( Kingussie - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Kingussie . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Kingussie - UK
