☆Bits of knowledge〜Hikawa Shrine〜
Entering Hikawa shrine requires a purification ritual that begins with washing your hands, right then left, and rinsing your mouth (with your left hand). Next is the burning fire with smoke to waft over your head to burn off impurities and perhaps bring the blessings of Susanoo, the Shinto god of storms and seas. Now in your new state of purification, you can enter this Shinto shrine between wires covered with fluttering osame-fuda, the prayer paper strips pilgrims tie up at each shrine. White prayer papers are for novice pilgrims who aspire to progress to red papers and then to silver and gold as they become veteran pilgrims.

Mitsuwa Hikawa Shinko Saitama Kawaguchi-shi

Japan’18 - #3 Fujikawaguchiko, Mt. Fuji, RYOKAN & Onsen - | by Tania Sofia de Andrade
SUBTITLES!!! [ENG/GER]
We went to Mt.Fuji and rented a room in the ryokan (traditional hotel) Kasuitei Ooya in Fuji Kawaguchiko. It was amazing! I really liked the Japanese style of the room, with tatami mats and even an outdoor onsen! And the food, omg, it was SO good!!
Japan 2018 playlist:
Actually I rented a room in another ryokan, but I don't know how this was possible, something went wrong with the credit card (even though it got approved in advance) and while in Thailand, I received the mail, the booking was cancled. I was SO freaking sad, because we wanted to go there in 3 days and almost everything was fully booked - I booked the room there 4 months in advance and it was one of the last three rooms they had, now just imagine... ooor they were incredible expensive, so short-termed. But I managed to get the last room Kasuitei Ooya had and it was perfect! The staff was so friendly and the service was awesome! We had a super delicious dinner and if I would be able to eat THAT much for breakfast I would have enjoyed it more.. xD' (there was food for kinda 5 persons on my plate..! xD' How do Japanese people manage to eat so much?! And that in the morning!!).
We visited the onsen and could relax with Lake Kawaguchi right in front of us! By night and with all the lights and the reflexions! I would have loved to visit a natural onsen or at least an onsen styled with rocks and plants and stuff. Maybe I'm gonna search for that the next time I go to Fuji-san.. oô
But since we had an open air bath on our room-balcony, of course I had to jump in! But omg, it was frickin' hot!! Couldn't stay as long as I could in the big onsen in the ryokan's rooftop.
The first day we rented some bicycles and toured around the Kawaguchi lake. We even got to see some late blooming Sakura trees! It was so beautiful! Unfortunately it was too cloudy, so we only saw kinda the bottom of Mt. Fuji.. I was sad, because I really wanted to see Fuji-san and his white tip... .___.
The day after we visited a shrine super near from the ryokan. It's on a hill and on the top there is a beautiful place with sooo many Sakura trees. Monkey live there, but we came a few seconds too late.. They were feeding their baby monkeys in the trees, but we only got to see the last two monkey jumping away. So we sat there and ate some mochi, we bought in the souvenir shop - which should actually be for someone else, but hey, we can treat ourselves! xD

☆Bits of knowledge〜Oshino Hakkai 〜
Oshino Hakkai (忍野八海) is a touristy set of eight ponds in Oshino, a small village in the Fuji Five Lake region, located between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako on the site of a former sixth lake that dried out several hundred years ago. The eight ponds are fed by snow melt from the slopes of nearby Mount Fuji that filters down the mountain through porous layers of lava for over 80 years, resulting in very clear spring water that is revered by the locals.
Next to one pond, visitors can drink the cool water straight from the source. The ponds are quite deep and have interesting freshwater plant life and large fish that make a visit to the ponds almost like visiting an aquarium. Although the ponds have been developed into tourist attractions and can become quite crowded with visitors, they have a pleasant atmosphere as long as you do not expect untouched nature. Not many people know, however, that the park also boasts three shrines. The most famous is the Toshogu Shrine, one of some 200 around the country dedicated to the spirit of Tokugawa Ieyasu (1543-1616). The shogun was deified after his death as Tosho Daigongen (Great Avatar of the Shining East). The shrine was originally built in 1627 by a Tokugawa follower, but was rebuilt in grander style in 1651 by the third Tokugawa shogun, Iemitsu, who glorified his grandfather.
