We are really pleased that her bust will beautify one of Saranda gardens. We are honored she is part of this space in our town, for all the reasons in our minds: due to her contribution and that of her family in the Albanian issues, in the protection of women's rights, especially the Kosovo issue. That's why we are really honored and proud of having her and that's why we did this ceremony today.

12. SOUNDBITE (Albanian) Idriz Balani, sculptor:
That couple (Clintons) have always impressed me for their assistance for Albania. Mrs. Clinton's visit in Albania (November 2012), her landing with the plane, her speech at the Albanian Parliament, that brilliant speech when she says that for 100 years we have been together and for another 100 years we shall be together too, all these pushed me to work something for Mrs. Clinton. Also being part of the Diplomatic Mission for Peace and Prosperity here in Albania and also due to their initiative, so our thoughts came together, we decided to make a bust for Mrs. Clinton and thought of placing it in Saranda.

14. SOUNDBITE (Albanian) Idriz Balani, sculptor:
We thought of putting it in Saranda because Saranda is Albania's pearl and such a lady, whom I would paraphrase with the word 'pearl' too, would stay beautifully near Albania's pearl.

The Saranda city council decided unanimously more than a month ago to erect the bust to depict Clinton. Their efforts were aided by a local non-governmental organisation and city hall
Albanian sculptor Idriz Balani insisted it was not linked to the US presidential process.
Saranda is a tourist town close to the ancient Roman archaeological spot of Butrint, near the Greek border.

Dr. Shefki Hysa and Mrs. Florjana Koka inaugurate the bust of Hillary Clinton in Saranda, Albania
Diplomatic Mission Peace and Prosperity in collaboration with the Municipality of Saranda, Albania inaugurated the bust of US Senator Hillary Clinton to mark her contribution in the international arena for the Albanian nation.
The sculpture of the former U.S. Secretary of State on the main boulevard along the shore was placed due to her dimension as a woman in politics, as a representative of the old Albania-U.S. friendship, for her contribution to the Albanian nation in different historical moments.
The bust was worked by Albanian sculptor Idriz Balani, upon the initiative of Diplomatic Mission Peace and Prosperity. A special contribution was given by Mr. Pjetër Nikolli and his company Kthella sh.p.k, who sponsored the bust on behalf of DMPP.
Many Albanians remain grateful to Bill Clinton for his role in ending the rampage in Kosovo by Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic in 1999. Hillary Clinton gave a speech in Albania in 2012, as Secretary of State, marking the nation's 100 years of independence.
During the ceremony Dr. Shefki Hysa was honored by the American President Barack Obama with the Lifetime Achievement Award accompanied by the Presidential Golden Eagle Medal. The award by the US president was a great appreciation of DMPP work over the years as an institution in the service of global peace!

A Naked Statue Of Hillary Clinton Erected In New York
On Tuesday, an explicit Hillary Clinton statue was erected in New York City near the Bowling Green subway station. The nude caricature offended some New Yorkers, that they eventually knocked the statue to the ground. The statue that depicts Clinton being kissed on the naked breast by a man. Enraged, people knocked down the statue, some kicking it on its head, breaking parts of it, and a woman sitting on it. According to the New York Daily News, the man who claims to have put up the statue, Anthony Scioli, struggled with the woman sitting on it to save it. He was eventually asked to remove the statue by police, because he did not have a permit for it.

“Watt’s World” - Nick Watt Finds a Statue of President George W. Bush in an Albanian Town Square
Host Nick Watt heads to Albania where there are no traffic laws, there are 27 words for mustache, a woman can live as a man and a hip hop artist has become prime minister. Watt even appears as a special guest on a TV show because they think he is American. “Why is Albania so weird,” asks Watt as he heads south to the “Albanian Riviera” to fulfill his childhood dream of seeing the tiny mushroom-shaped bunkers that stand as a monument to one man’s paranoia. On his way, he makes a pit stop and discovers one of Albania’s more charming idiosyncrasies: the residents love America and President George W. Bush. In Fushe-Kruje, a giant statue of Bush was erected in the town square to commemorate the first visit by a U.S. president to the country after the fall of communism. The following day, Watt meets Diana, one of Albania’s few remaining “sworn virgins,” a woman who takes a vow to be a man and is legally and socially recognized as a man from then on, as long as they remain celibate. Watt continues his journey around the country, meeting with the prime minister and appearing on Albania’s answer to “The Daily Show” – a late night variety show complete with independent investigative news and dancing girls. He concludes that Albania is a pretty weird country, but that is not necessarily a bad thing! New series premieres Monday, June 30 at 10:00pm ET/PT.
