Aurora school, church in danger of closing raises $400,000 to stay open
AURORA, Ind. (WKRC) - A small Catholic school in Indiana pulled off a Christmas miracle.
St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Aurora was at risk of closing. Declining enrollment and fewer people attending mass meant less income for the parish and school.
The school had until Dec. 31 to raise $400,000 to ensure it would reopen in 2019. It reached its goal Monday.
Now, it will be able to pay off a loan from the archdiocese and restructure the budget for 2019.

Fire roars through Aurora Lumber Company
AURORA, Ind. (WKRC) -- A fire broke out at the Aurora Lumber Company on U.S. Route 50 late Monday night. The fire started around 11:45 p.m. and caused an estimated 50,000 in damages. Aerial look at overturned semi with loose pigs near Lawrenceburg, Indiana
About 70 hogs are trapped inside a semitractor-trailer that overturned on state Route 1 just after midnight Tuesday near Whitaker Lane, according to Dearborn County dispatchers. The highway is expected to remain closed until about 8 a.m. Traffic is being rerouted onto Salt Fork Road. Just three weeks ago, another big rig overturned just a few miles north near Dover.

Lawrenceburg Indiana
I had to shoot some businesses in Lawrenceburg, IN and discovered it's a beautiful little town. Here are some scenes of downtown on the river.
Schenck Mansion ....Vevay, Indiana
This 35 room mansion was built in 1874 by Benjamin Franklin Schenck, son of a wealthy hay king of the steamboat era. It was the marvel of its time with a four storied tower and five bathrooms. Each bathroom contains a walnut cased copper lined tub. Architecturally the house is of the second empire style. It has four porches, seven balconies, eight chimneys and numerous windows. The original slate roof is still intact. The exterior trim is all made of tin.
In 1945 the home was acquired by Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Wiseman who lived here and also used it as the clubhouse for the Switzerland County Saddle Club. The circular driveway at the bottom of the hill was originally a quarter mile track. In the 1970s Burrel Farnsley and Alexander Speer bought the property and began serious restoration efforts. They sold it in 1981 to Mark Miles, also of Louisville, who continued the work, adding vineyards to the hillside near the house. The property now belongs to Jerry and Lisa Fisher of Patriot, who have restored the mansion to its original grandeur..
The mansion is reported to be haunted by the spirits of the Schenck family..
