Mercedes-Benz of Durham Introduces: Queen of Wines
We are starting a new initiative at Mercedes-Benz of Durham - to introduce our social audience to the many wonderful business in the community. We consider this our way of reaching out and getting involved while we strive to make a name for ourselves with our neighbors.
Our first video features a start up business in Durham, North Carolina called, Queen of Wines. The owner, Laure Levesque is of French descent and had the idea of bringing her culture, in the for of wine, to the United States.
Since Queen of Wines is considered a distributor, they don't sell wine directly to the public. However, they do work with retailers by offering educational classes about their wines, which is just the touch that separates them from their competitors.
You might also notice on any wine that comes from their warehouse, a patented back label which describes just about everything you need to know about their wine. Where it came from, what the best temperature to store it is, what it pairs best with, etc... Something a lot of novice wine consumers might appreciate.
Look for more videos about local businesses on our Facebook page, facebook.com/mercedesbenzofdurham/
You can also find us online at MercedesBenzofDurham.com
Mercedes-Benz of Durham is located in the Southpoint Auto Mall off of Fayetteville Rd in Durham, North Carolina. The Auto Mall offers easy access from Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, and Morrisville from I-40.

Temple Terrace Fl Tampa Gator Knocking Front Door 2am
Capt Phil of GatorGuides.com removes a 2 am gator knocking on a front door in Temple Terrace Fl.
It was 1:30 am when I just sat down to watch Swamp People when the phone rang…………. A homeowner’s dog was barking and raising a ruckus. When the homeowner looked out the front door, he found an 8’ gator lurking, banging upon the door and upset; great Halloween costume but way too early. The call when out to Law Enforcement (Temple Terrace Police Department, Fl) which arrived at the homeowners location to keep track of the lizard until I could arrive. Upon arrival, half asleep, I attempted to communicate with the gator & asked him to simply leave however he just hissed a challenge for me to “bring it on”….. The life of an ‘old redneck is never boring…..
Grabbed my tools; a roll of electrical tape, a slide snare, a cowboy lariat and my trusty gaff and was ready for battle. The following 8 minute video is the epic battle of the Redneck gator hunter and former wine consultant subduing the scaly cold blooded poodle & child eater and sending him to a better place. Feel free to visit him as appetizers at Skippers Smokehouse or at Saks Fith Avenue in the accessories department. Our friends at the Temple Terrace PD stated we did not need to Mirandize the lizard……
From the coastal areas of North Carolina across the south from the fall line to the ocean & Gulf coast up to lower Oklahoma, gators are out of their winter mode & on the move. They are establishing territories, looking for love, evicted from territories by larger bull gators and on the move for a tender meal such as a poodle or corgi, be aware they could turn up almost anywhere for the next month or so. They are more active after a storm and/or after the sun goes down. It’s a good idea to be VERY AWARE of where/what you set your foot upon as you never know where you’re find one or one of it’s kin such as a snake or other wildlife.
If you encounter a gator, just step back & away from it. Most likely t will leave the area soon & seek water. If you feel threatened for yourself, family, pets or livestock, you could call local law enforcement and seek their opinion for further action. Many states with high gator populations have nuisance trappers available to deal with the lizard or they might advise to simply let it be. Just be careful and aware of your surroundings…..
Last, the Florida Public Waters Alligator Harvest application will open May 18. It’s your chance to hunt two gators if selected. Cost is $272 for residents & $1,020 for non residents. South Carolina has it’s one gator hunt application open now and closes June 15. Georgia’s application process will open soon & close late July. Both states have very similar rules, application processes and fees. Visit their Department of Natural Resources/Hunting (DNR) websites for more information.
North Carolina will most likely have their first modern day public gator hunt this year. Details not yet announced however check with their DNR. Alabama, Mississippi & Arkansas also have public access alligator hunts, generally starting in August and lasting until September. Again, visit their DNR websites for complete info.
Thanks to assistance & back up from the Temple Terrace Police Department.
#GoodCop Planted Drugs On A Person Because His EX Moved On And He Thinks He Owns Her
ANSON COUNTY, N.C. —
North Carolina sheriff's deputy is accused of planting drugs in someone’s vehicle as part of a revenge plot.
Anson County Sheriff Landric Reid said he's grateful his detectives were able to uncover the alleged scheme before anyone's life was ruined.
This was a revenge case where he planted drugs in this male's car,” Reid said. “This male was dating his ex, and he wanted revenge, and he wanted his ex-girlfriend back.
Reid said that in March of 2018, former Deputy David Scott Burroughs bought drugs, such as heroin and meth, and planted them in the car.
Reid said Burroughs told his fellow officers about tips from the public that indicated the man was dealing out of his car.
“This started on a Sunday afternoon,” Reid said.
“By Wednesday, when we made the stop, drugs were at the same place in the car. That was a red flag because anyone selling drugs wouldn't have them Sunday to Wednesday in the same place.
Reid said the victim’s father called, concerned about the allegations against his son.
The sheriff fired Burroughs immediately after his deputies investigated the case last year.
They called the State Bureau of Investigation to look into the matter.
Burroughs was arrested last week after deputies and the FBI wrapped up their investigation.
He was released on bond Monday and will be in court April 16.

What Happened to the Future? Lessons from Ancient Athens
Presented by: W. Robert Connor, two events 3/22/11, 7PM & 3/23/11, 1PM - Provide by GVSU's Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies and the Department of Classics.
W. Robert Connor came to the New York-based Teagle Foundation as its president in early 2003, re-affirming the Foundation's long-standing commitment to higher education, and re-focusing it on improving student learning in the liberal arts and sciences. His belief that such learning can--and must--be brought to a much higher level is reflected in the Foundation's grant initiatives in Value-Added Assessment, Fresh Thinking for Liberal Education, Big Questions of Meaning and Value, and College-Community Connections. (These programs are described on the Foundation's website teagle.org, which is designed to provide ideas and know-how about strengthening liberal education, as well as to offer information about the Foundation's grantmaking.)
Bob retired as president of the Foundation at the end of 2009, but continues to serve as its senior advisor.
Bob was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, graduated from Hamilton College, and after a stint in Oxford, received his PhD in Classics from Princeton in 1961. A few years later, he returned to Princeton, where he taught and administered until 1989, when he became the president and director of the National Humanities Center in the Research Triangle Park of North Carolina. He lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina with his Byzantinist wife, Carolyn Connor. He holds honorary degrees from several colleges and is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society.
