Nepal Earthquake – MIRA Himalaya
PRESENTLY NOT ABLE TO BE VIEWED ON MOBILE DEVICES.
MIRA Himalaya (Medicine in Remote Areas, Himalaya) is the project and charity that has been spurred from the personal quest that followed the Nepal Earthquakes of 25 April and 12 May 2015. Then, as with the follow up work in September 2015, there became clear a need for general medicine and health & hygiene education in the mountains and hills of Nepal, which I was fortunate enough to be able to provide courtesy of my speaking Nepalese and former Paramedic qualification – the second mission accompanied by fellow ex Special Forces medic Royston Polding.
Nepal is a country dear to my heart from my eight years’ service with the Gurkhas and numerous mountaineering expeditions in the country and this video hopefully captures the essence and resilience of a very special people along with the ongoing work.
More details on MIRA Himalaya will follow in April 2016 and if you wish to support it in any way please contact us through adrianhayes.com

Kathmandu has often been by some as a flawless jewel in a unique setting. No other place in the world has the concentration of culture, art and tradition that exists in the Kathmandu valley (1300m.). Kathmandu is the crossroads for the many ethnic groups of Nepal and for visitors from all over the world every year. Nestled in the central hills of Nepal, Kathmandu is at once medieval and modern. The Kathmandu valley sprawls at the junction of two sacred rivers, Bagmati and Bishnumati. Just cross the Bagmati River to the south is Patan, on ancient city of temples, while Bhadgoon with its thousands of homes and temples shrines lies six miles to the east. More then two hundred years ago these three cities housed the Royal places of three different kingdoms that divided the valley palaces surviving today.
They say there are more temples than houses in Kathmandu valley in past. Great temples with heavily carved exteriors, massive white-domed Buddhist stupas and hundreds of smaller Buddhist chaityas small temples with low, ornate archways-and tiny temples containing once lone idol all are an integral pieces of the unique mosaic that is Kathmandu city. To really discover the Kathmandu valley you need to begin exploring from well beyond the city limits, and travel in from the outside of Nepal in order to touch its roots. Fortunately there are many very beautiful walks within the Kathmandu valley that combine cultural experience and natural heritage.

NEPAL MONTAGE | KATHMANDU | HIMALAYAS #00
In 2014 I had my trip to one of the most beautiful countries in the world Nepal and I managed to go around temples and beautiful places in Kathmandu, Chitwan, Pokhara, Dharan. We also managed to do paragliding in the foot of the Himalayas and boating on beautiful Phewa lake in Pokhara. Beautiful mountain flight to Himalayan range in Everest took my heart away where I literally could see the top ten mountains on the earth including Mount Everest, just felt overwhelmed after the trip.
Shoyambu temple, Pashupatinath temple, Patan Durbar, Bhaktapur, White gumba were also the part of the attractions. However because of less time I missed the rafting in Trisuli river, Jungle trip and Elephant riding in Chitwan which I am looking forward to do on my next visit.

In 2007, Love Hope Strength was born, and the first mission to improve access to cancer care around the globe was underway. Thirty-eight musicians, cancer survivors and mountaineers set off to reach Kalapathar where they would set a World Record for the highest concert ever performed. They carried with them the names of loved ones who had been touched by cancer on prayer flags which were strung high amongst the shadows of Mount Everest. The success of Everest Rocks resulted in the first mammography and first internal radiation machines for the country of Nepal.
Now, 5 years later, it is time to return. We will celebrate our 5 year anniversary and continue upon our quest to bring access to cancer care to the world. Everest Rocks II will be a 14 day musical trek to Everest Base Camp with a few days in Kathmandu before and after to prepare, celebrate and visit with the very patients and doctors our support has helped over the years.

Ascending mount Chulu West and mount Chulu Central can be best made from a base camp in a small valley north of Manang situated off the main route to Thorong La pass 5416m. We can have the heart touching views of this peak from that pass.
North-West Ridge: Go beyond the hut preceding the yak pastures and walk up a ridge which leads into a hidden valley with the possibility to find a good site for base camp. From this camp, ascend steep slopes to a col (4,900m/ 16,076 ft.), on a subsidiary ridge that leads down from the main crease. To the north of the col, move down via snowy slope for 200 meters to the base of a rock band at the height of 5,100 meters, which is the site for a possible high camp. Climbing the difficult rock band to the north-west shoulder of Chulu west 5450 meters or 17,880 feet, another camp can be established or alter-native a camp can be placed on a snow plateau above 5,530 meters or 18,143 feet. Rope was fixed on the rock band during the first and other ascents. From the plateau continue moving up the narrow ridge to the summit 6,250 meters /20,505 feet. Same route is followed to descend down. Every season Monterosa Treks and expedition organizes Chulu-West Peak
expedition.
