Nainital Tourist Places
Nainital, also known as Lake District of Uttarakhand, is named after the goddess Naina Devi. It is located around Naini Lake in Uttarakhand. If you are planning to feel tourism of Nainital, the best time to visit there in between May to July, the summer time in India.
The weather in Nainital is quite pleasant. Summers are mildly warm and temperatures may reach 22 °C. During winter, temperatures may be sub-zero. The town receives snowfall during December and January.
Snow View: Snow View offers spectacular views of the Naina Devi Peak. It can be reached by the Aerial Express Ropeway. Round trip:Rs 160. One-way: Rs 100. There is a place called Mountain Magic, which offers Bumping cars, Go karting facilities.
Nanda Devi Temple, Naini Lake. The temple was destroyed during the Landslip of 1880, and was later rebuilt. It is on the lake's northern shore.
Naina Peak is highest hill top Situated at an altitude of 2,615 metres or 8579 feet and one of the the famous tourist spots in Nainital. This peak is also called as China Peak and Cheena Peak by locals in Naintal. Due to high altitude and lush green forest path, Naina Peak is favourite place in Nainital for trekking among travellers.
Tiffin Top: Aryapatta Hill. Altitude: 2292 m. To get here you can drive up to Sherwood College and then continue on a short scenic walk. Else, a route with horse ride or scenic trek possible too. On the top, you get a lovely view of the city, lake, and the mountains beyond while being surrounded in lush green forests. Try to get to the peak by 3 pm, as trek takes around 2-3 hours on the way up.
Gurney House, Aryapatta Hill. This was the former home of Jim Corbett. It has been converted into a museum and houses Corbett memorabilia.
Naina Devi Temple: This temple was constructed in the 15th Century during the Kushan reign but on other hand, an another version states that it was built by Moti Ram Shah.
Naini Lake, is set amidst seven mountains that surround this stagnant water pool and high peaks that almost touch the sky.
Governor's House (Raj Bhawan) & the Golf Course, Nainital. Governor's House is a 220 acre early Gothic style complex having lush green gardens and areas of Deodar and Oak trees. A hidden treasure which also houses The Golf Course Nainital, makes it a perfect destination for golf enthusiasts, nature lovers and picnicking tourists. It remains open from 8 A.M. on all days except Sundays & Gazetted holidays.
Does:
Boating in Naini Lake is a must. Paddle boats can be hired by the hour. You can also hire a yacht from the Nainital Boat Club, which costs Rs 250 per hour and comes with a boatman, you can also have a self paddle boat.
Feed the animals at the Nainital Zoo(Gobind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo), where you will find some high-altitude species that are native to the region. . Zoo Entry Fee: Rs 50 and Rs.30 for children 25 rupees extra for a camera, closed on Mondays. The zoo also has an interesting sponsorship programme where you can sponsor the maintenance and food of the animal of your choice. The zoo is spread over a wide area and requires lot of walking, so visit only if you are comfortable with that.
Explore Cave Gardens. : 2 Kms further up from Mallital (northern end of the lake) is a cave complex(6 caves i.e.Tiger,Panther,Porcupine,Bats,Flying Fox and apes). This consists of a series of caves which get narrower as you progress. People who are claustrophobic should not explore the later ones and there is a facility to get out after every cave. Ensure to wear clothes which would enable you to crawl etc.
Trek to Naina/China Peak, the highest point in the region(8622ft). You can get scenic views of the whole region. Hiking there takes around 60 mins and is not so strenuous. Also you can see a panoramic view of snow capped himalayas further north (in sep, oct and nov only). On the top of the mountain you can find a small tea shop serving bread omelet, some biscuits, tea and coffee for a reasonable price. Not many people go there and so its a good option to escape from this busy, greedy world
Trek to Tiffin's Top. Its a slightly touristy place and you can feel the rush there. You can get on a horse also to go to the top(Rs. 300-1000). The Horse ride is an extremely nice experience, but ensure that ladies travel in front of the male members of the party. Its not so tough to hike there. On the top of this hill, one can find all kinds of shops, flocking with people

41 An Englishman Drives Off Road in the Himalayas - Ladakh & Himachal Pradesh, India
We've spent 10 days driving in Northern India, from the madness of New Delhi, to the Himalayan mountains in Himachal Pradesh & Ladakh.
In this video, I show you how to drive off road on the Manali to Leh Highway, in a vehicle which is not specifically designed to be driven off road - a front-wheel-drive Mahindra XUV500.
Shot at 4500 metres above sea level, you will see how rough the roads can get in this part of India, and the techniques required to drive safely in this extremely isolated area.

14 Days Tour (The Himalayan Ride) - The Real Himalayan Motorcycle Expeditions
bigbiketours.com
This exciting tour is something of a Himalayan odyssey. It starts from the valley of Gods and Goddesses (Kullu Manali) in the Himachal Pradesh region, a land of high lush green pastures which is home of the Himalayan Shepherd. We ride over one of the worlds most dangerous roads - Rohtang la and is the most amazing experience which will provide an unforgettable experience.
Crossing the world's two highest motorable passes and linking two mountain range's most breath-taking regions - Ladakh and Zanskar. High altitude deserts, the highest of passes, the amazing Kashmir valley, stunning Tso-khar and Tso mo riri Lakes and the incomparable beauty of the Indus valley with its 7,500m snow-capped mountains and hanging glaciers.
International arrivals and departures will be in Delhi with a short flight to the starting point in Manali and ends in Sri Nagar (Jammu & Kashmir). Travelling in these beautiful mountains by motorcycle, truly brings you closer to nature and its people.
During our journey we will have numerous breaks so that our guests can rest and recuperate. A hot cup of tea is a good way to recharge from the exhausting and challenging ride. Even though the Himalayan road builders maintain the highways, weather conditions make it a constant battle. Landslides, melting ice, river crossings and the ubiquitous Tata truck adds challenges to an already difficult ride.

MANALI
A gift of the Himalayas to the world, Manali is a beautiful township nestled in the picturesque Beas River valley. It is a rustic enclave known for its cool climate and snow-capped mountains, offering respite to tourists escaping scorching heat of the plains. The tourism industry in Manali started booming only in the early 20th century, mainly because of its natural bounties and salubrious climate.
Once a sleepy village, the modern town cocooned in its rich cultural heritage and age-old traditions is now one of the most popular destinations of India. The place is a classic blend of peace and tranquility which makes it a haven for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts, who want to get off the main tourist trails and experience nature up close.
The glacial water of River Beas after rushing down the slopes of Rohtang Pass allows adventure sport activities of rowing, white water rafting and river crossing as it meanders through the valley from Manali to Kullu.
The open valley with terraced fields dotted with hotels and resorts has tourists converge on this township in summer from April to July and in autumn to early winter from October to December.
If you have ever imagined of sitting by the gushing water of a snow-fed stream, or waking up to a glorious sunrise with breathtaking views to soak in, Manali is the place to be.

The Mall is the centre point of Mussoorie with its two ends- Library and Picture Palace spread some distance away. In Mussoorie, you will find both nature at work with beautiful waterfalls and sceneries as well as architectural marvel of colonial structures.

Kempty Falls, one of the most renowned waterfalls in Uttarakhand, offers a mesmerizing panoramic view as the water falls from a great height. The pond formed at the bottom of the falls make an excellent spot for swimming, fishing, and bathing. A flight of stairs leads to the pond where one can soak in the fun with friends and family. Quite famous among the tourists as a picnic spot, this perennial waterfall is crowded almost throughout the year.
The Mall
Located in the heart of Mussoorie, the Mall is a colonial relic with benches and lampposts filled with modern shops, video game parlours and skating rinks.
You can often find the author Ruskin Bond browsing the Cambridge Bookstore. There would be a lot of local vendors around including photographers who can click awesome photographs for you. Do try out a photograph in local traditional attire here.
Gun Hill
The Gun Hill is the second highest peak in Mussoorie after the Lal Tibba. Nestled 400 ft above The Mall, the Hill can be reached via cable car ropeway. The ropeway ride gives an enthralling experience to its passenger. The Peak offers stunning views of the snow-capped mountains. One gets to witness a top view of Mussoorie and Doon Valley.
It has a water reservoir built which supplies water to the hill area. Even the smallest of the things over here have a touch of colonisation which take place in Pre-independent India. A few years ago, I went around the world and asked people what travel meant to them. As I travel the country on my current book tour and hear everyone’s reasons for travel, I’m reminded of that experience.
Travel means something different to every single person in the world.
There are a million and one reasons to travel. Many people travel the world to get the bug out of their system, or to check things off a list to say they’ve been there and done that. Some run to escape their problems. Some people travel simply to get drunk around the world.
For me, travel means many things. Travel is freedom. It’s about being able to do what I want and fill my day with excitement. Travel was an escape. Travel was “elsewhere”. That place where exciting things and people resided. It was escaping the Matrix to learn about the world, why people do what they do, and how they act. It’s about pushing myself to the limit and getting more comfortable in my own skin.
But I wondered what motivates other people to do the same.
I have my theories of course.
But I wanted to hear it from people directly.
So, during an extended trip, I asked people I met on the road one question:
“What does travel mean to you?”
And here is what they said:
I loved hearing everyone’s answers because it so accurately describes all the various reasons that push us to travel the world, learn about the people in it, and ourselves.
Now, tell me in the comments below:
What does travel mean to you?
Share what drives you.
HIMALAYAN HOT SPRINGS #3
Annapurna circuit (5416m) Nepal
Went on our 3rd day from Ghemu to Chamche and after Jagat we stopped at the hot springs and enjoined the amazing hot water and high mountains around us.
The Himalayan Geothermal Belt was formed as a result of the collision of the Indian Plate with the Eurasian Plate, which created the Himalayas. The belt is more than 150 kilometres (93 mi) wide.
The HGB has an extension to the westward that shows in warm or hot springs
