Hin Bus Depot Art Centre Penang
Innovative ideas of a few local entrepreneurs have transformed the old building of Hin Bus Depot on Jalan Gurdwara, George Town into a lively Sunday Pop up Market. It wasn’t exactly a landmark location that would draw in hoards of Saturday Night party goers or Sunday weekend shoppers.
As a city grows, it becomes more sophisticated and hipster cafes and themed coffee outlets start to flourish. The young business community began to look at different ways to package products creatively.
Thinking out of the box for a business model that would appeal to the younger set of travelers and the urban dwellers, the concept appealed to those who are tired of mall culture.
It’s only natural that the next step is a cultural trading post of sorts that appeals to all ages and spans across the culture. The Sunday Pop up Market serves to repurpose the old building and inject life into it.

來到檳城，除了逛夜市之外，原來也有著別具風格的特色文創市集喔！無論是個性雜貨、二手好物、特色農產、創意手作或是小食飲物，這個市集都一律概括，通通都有！
興公司文創市集Hin Bus Depot前身是巴士維修站遺址，現在是為藝術愛好者的空間；每逢週日的快閃市集聚集了約60個小攤位售賣各種文創藝品，周邊的小單位都被改成了咖啡館、藝術畫廊及文創小店，而這裡的落地玻璃咖啡館更曾經風靡一時，成了網紅打卡熱點呢！除了在快閃市集尋寶，還可以享受美食及拍照打卡，難怪成了文青及潮人們的熱門聚集地。

Hin Bus Depot Market, Exploring KOMTAR + Northam Beach Café (WeWillNomad)
It's a rainy Sunday on Penang Island but we persevere and hop on the CAT 7 bus to Komtar from where we walk to the Hin Bus Depot Pop-Up Market. We end the day at Northam Beach Cafe for supper around sunset.
Every Sunday you can enjoy hanging out in the garden of HIN BUS DEPOT while enjoying some Kefir Soda or freshly brewed coffee with a delicious snack of your choice while listening to some live music. It's small local community-run weekly pop-market which is aimed at supporting local artists, creative spirits and entrepreneurs and we really enjoyed the fact that this place is far off the tourist radar.
The KOMTAR Tower (short for Kompleks Tunku Abdul Rahman) is currently Penang's tallest skyscraper. The original tower was completed in 1986 and reached 232 metres high making it the second tallest building in Asia at the time. From 2015, in an attempt to revitalise the building, three more storeys were added, raising the height of KOMTAR Tower to 249 metres. This revival included the addition of many of the attractions which the complex boasts today. Although the exterior and lower portion of the building still appear rather old and even somewhat dilapidated, THE TOP PENANG AT KOMTAR TOWER is now home to the highest glass skywalk in Malaysia (Rainbow Skywalk) as well as the world's highest rope course at the exterior of the skyscraper's 65th floor (The Gravityz)! The entrance fee to these and the other attractions is steep, but the observation deck will give you panoramic views over the city and adrenaline junkies may find the experiences on offer exhilarating.

Chai Diam Ma: Art grocery store
One of the ways to improve the quality and quantity of local artists is to support the local craft.
Chai Diam Ma is a Malaysian local craft store located in Hin Bus Depot, Penang. They collaborate with a lot of local artists, with a seven-year-old as the youngest!
Chai Diam Ma has another branch in Lebuh Queen, Georgetown, which is bigger and also sells food in their cafe.
Their beautiful mission is to connect people to art, so more people can appreciate local art.

Hin Bus Depot Hin Pop Up Market
Hin Bus Depot Hipster Art Centre in George Town is the local entrepreneur community art space in artsy Penang. Built in 1947, the Hin Bus Depot was run by the bus company, Hin Company. The Hin Bus used to ply the Tanjung Bungah and Teluk Bahang routes. Most seniors will remember fondly of Penang’s “blue busses”.
Many years after the Hin Company closed down; the depot was left vacant and derelict.
