It is a wonderful island where you can spend your whole day strolling and exploring the entire place. A lot of shops, food stalls, restaurants and spas around the area. You can learn some Japanese cultures, beliefs and practices here through the shrines along the way. However, you have to walk tons of steps uphill, downhill and several stairs but it's worth it once you've reached the top as you'll be able to see the breathtaking ocean view. There's this one spot also where you can see the Mt. Fuji, if you're lucky enough and it's not cloudy on the day of your visit. My most favorite part is the love bell and love locks on top of a hill, overlooking a cliff. It's a romantic place for couples specially during the time we went which was autumn season and you can really feel the breeze of the cold air with some warmth of the sun's rays on your skin. You can festive with mouthwatering fresh catch seafoods around the island also, may it be for lunch, dinner or even snacks and pair it with some good coffee. It's really relaxing to sip a cuppa after a long way and numb feet and while just staring at the infinite blue ocean. This experience was indeed fun and memorable.

Tanabata Festival - Shimizu
The colorful Shimizu Tanabata Festival takes place at the Shimizu Ginza shopping area outside Shimizu Station. Also known as the star festival, Tanabata literally means the night of the seventh. Tanabata is a festival based on the Chinese legend of two lovers who live in the sky.
It was love at first sight when Orihime, a weaver princess, met Hikoboshi, a cow herder prince. They were happily married and enjoyed being together so much they completely neglected their work. This angered the Heavenly King and he separated them to opposite sides of the Milky Way. Later, feeling sorry for the two separated lovers, the King let them meet once a year on the evening of the seventh day of July provided they work as hard as they had in the past. So Orihime and Hikoboshi are able to cross the Milky Way to meet on the evening of Tanabata. It's believed that Orihime and Hikoboshi can't see each other if the day is rainy, so people pray for good weather and also make wishes for themselves At a Tanabata festival people write their wishes on tanzaku papers (colorful, small strips of papers) and hang them on bamboo branches.
