VLOG I Hirosake Cherry Blossom Festival 2016
April 25th, 2016-Hirosaki located in the Aomori Prefecture which is in Northern Japan in the Tohoku region. Tohoku, a region of Japan’s Honshu Island, is known for its volcanoes, mountainous terrain and skiing. It's home to the tiny, pine-covered islets of Matsushima Bay, and Lake Towada, a huge crater lake renowned for its bright-blue color and surrounding forests. Tohoku's biggest city is Sendai, site of the Osaki Hachimangu Shinto shrine and ornate Zuihoden, the tomb of feudal lord Date Masamune.
Hirosake is the #1 viewing spot for sakura (cherry blossoms) in all of Japan featuring over 1500 varieties of trees for this amazing matsuri (festival). Music, food, performances and beautiful scenery. Although still cold this was a semi-warm and sunny day.
The feature of this viewing is Hirosaki Castle (弘前城 Hirosaki-jō) a hirayama-style Japanese castle constructed in 1611. It was the seat of the Tsugaru clan, a 47,000 koku tozama daimyō clan who ruled over Hirosaki Domain, Mutsu Province, in what is now central Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture, Japan. It was also referred to as Takaoka Castle (鷹岡城 or 高岡城 Takaoka-jō).
