Sakura Cherry Blossoms in Hirosaki - Japan ᴴᴰ ● 桜まつり青森弘前⎮Japan Travel Vlog
►Hirosaki Castle Park is home to almost 3000 sakura trees, with over 50 different types - and in my opinion, it's THE best spot of anywhere in Japan to watch the cherry blossoms.
There are lots of great places around Tokyo to watch the sakura cheery blossom, but Hirosaki in Aomori isn't just great, it's an overwhelming experience, with sakura everywhere you look, in this beautiful castle park, with Mount Iwaki (Iwakiyama) serving as a perfect backdrop.
Aomori is located north of Tokyo, 3h10m by Shinkansen, right under the island of Hokkaido. Once you get to Aomori City, it's another 50 minutes by local train to Hirosaki, but well worth the effort, and I'd say it's something you should see just once in your life.
- Enjoy!

[8K]HIROSAKI 日本一の春の絶景 弘前公園の美しい桜 Amazing Cherry Blossoms View at Hirosaki Park, Aomori Japan
[8K]Amazing Cherry Blossoms View at Hirosaki Park, Aomori Japan

It is the cherry blossoms in full bloom of Hirosaki Park (Hirosaki Castle) in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, which is considered to be the most beautiful in Japan.
In the night time, there is a cherry blossom light up, and you can enjoy a fantastic scene that seems to be different from daytime.
On the day of filming, the cherry blossoms were at their best in the morning and the flowers started to scatter from the afternoon, and there was a place where I could see the flower raft partly at the light up of the night. In this movie, we re-edited the image of Hirosaki park's cherry tree which was open to the public in the past and up-converted from 4K to 8K by performing pixel supplement processing. Please enjoy the magnificent view of Japan boasting of the world revived with high definition and beautiful images.

Hirosaki Park is one of Japan's best cherry blossom spots. With its abundance of over 2500 trees, cherry blossom tunnels, petal filled moats, numerous pleasant picnic areas, rental rowing boats, many varieties of cherry trees and illuminations in the evenings, it feels like multiple great cherry blossom spots combined into a single one. A festival is held annually from April 23 to May 5, when the blossoms are usually in bloom.
Hirosaki Castle (弘前城, Hirosakijō) was built in 1611 by the Tsugaru Clan. A three-story castle tower, fortified moats, castle gates and some corner turrets (yagura) survive or were reconstructed. The castle is located in Hirosaki Park, a spacious public park of about 0.6 square kilometers.
The castle's original five-story keep burnt down in 1627 after being struck by lightning. Rebuilt in 1810, the present three-story keep is the only one in the Tohoku Region that was not rebuilt in the modern era, amongst only a handful in all of Japan.
Major renovation works on the castle's stone walls are carried out from 2013 for about ten years. In a unique procedure, the castle keep was moved by about 70 meters to enable renovation works on its foundation and the surrounding stone walls. The keep will remain there for several years until it is moved back. The keep's interior was reopened to the public in April 2016.
Fujita Memorial Garden
The Fujita Memorial Japanese Garden (藤田記念庭園, Fujita Kinen Teien) was built in 1919 in the style of a traditional Japanese landscape garden. The spacious garden is separated into two main parts, an upper section and a lower section. It is named after its first owner, a local business man named Fujita Kenichi.
A few buildings of interest stand around the garden, including a traditional Japanese house in the upper section and a tea ceremony house in the lower section, both designed to afford views onto the surrounding landscape. Near the garden's entrance gate stand a small archeology museum and a Western house with tearoom from the Taisho era (1912-1926).

Hirosaki Castle Chrysanthemum and Autumn Foliage Festival | Japan Travel Vlog
In the beginning of the video I showed we were driving through the Hakkoda Mountains, they are a volcanic complex located in the south of Aomori City. The range consists of more than a dozen stratovolcanoes and lava domes arranged into two volcanic groups. This mountain range can get up to 14 feet + of snow. It’s not just the powder on the ground that makes Hakkoda unique - the mountain’s characteristic “Snow Monsters” make an unforgettable scenic backdrop. The Snow Monsters are produced when water droplets carried by strong seasonal winds clash with the evergreens and freeze in place to create unique shapes. There are only a select few mountains in Japan that have the unique climatic conditions necessary to produce these Snow Monsters, and Hakkoda is one of them.
As we were driving we stopped at Jigokunuma Pond. “The 4,500 meter crater lake was made by an eruption that occurred during the end of volcanic activity of Mt. Hakkoda (about 800 years ago) . As highly acid hot water (90 degrees C) spouts out 2,700L per minute from the pond, the place is suited to fish habitat.”
“The Hirosaki Castle Chrysanthemum and Autumn Foliage Festival takes place at Hirosaki Park which is home to the Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival, an annual event held in April that was selected as one of Japan’s 100 most famous cherry blossom spots, bringing in over 2 million people every year. The castle tower at the park along with the three watchtowers and five castle gates are also registered as important cultural properties. It is also known for being the place where the Hirosaki Domain resided which was ruled by the Tsugaru clan.
The Hirosaki Castle Chrysanthemum and Autumn Foliage Festival has been held every autumn since 1962. It serves as a reminder of autumn-time Hirosaki with around maple 1,000 trees dyeing the park in autumnal hues. The 2,600 or so cherry blossom trees there, which turn a beautiful pink in spring, also take on fall colours.
When the sun sets at the festival, the castle tower, gates and the park are lit up with bright illuminations. The park is made even more beautiful by the glowing trees and illumined castle which cast reflections on the water surface.”
Unfortuntely we were not able to stay until the illumination because we wanted to be able to safely drive home before it got dark on the mountain. We had such a fun day celebrating the last bit of fall foliage of 2019.
