Hirosaki developed as a castle town for the 100,000 koku Hirosaki Domain ruled by the Tsugaru clan.
The city is currently a regional commercial center and the largest producer of apples in Japan.[2] The city government has been promoting the catchphrase Apple Colored Town Hirosaki.
Hirosaki has perhaps the cutest little castle in Japan. Long before its construction in 1810, a much larger structure stood in its place, but like so many castles in Japan, it burnt to the ground when struck by lightning in 1627. Although diminutive, it is genuine – not a concrete reconstruction with air conditioning and light switched.

Hirosaki University Hospital, Department of Urology - Leading Urologic Care in Hirosaki, Japan
Hirosaki University is located at the northernmost point of the main island of Japan. Due to its location, Hirosaki University Hospital covers a very wide area including Hokkaido and northern Honshu, an area including 2 million people.
The Department of Urology, Hirosaki University Hospital covers a very wide range of diseases including urologic tumors, stone disease, BPH, endocrinological disease, male reproductive disorders, pediatric urology, chronic kidney disease, and kidney transplant.
The department has 2 DaVincis at the University, as well as 2 more in affiliate hospitals. They have extensive experience in radical prostatectomies, having performed over 600 robotic prostatectomies. Urologists also carry out many kidney transplants.
Urologists have developed an original cross-folded U-shaped ileal neobladder for urinary diversion, have a very high success rate for ABO-incompatible kidney transplant, as well as working on a new assay system for early detection of prostate cancer using a distinct glycan change.
In addition the department is focused on developing the careers of young urologists, training them to deliver great care as well as scientific breakthroughs by teaching them to be surgeon scientists.

In May 2019 I visited Tohoku, Japan with my boyfriend. We only had 4 days so we went to Aomori and Akita prefectures. It was a great time to visit since it wasn't too cold. Before this trip, we visited Hokkaido (check out my Hokkaido video link below)

We visited Hirosaki Park on April 26th, 2016.
Hirosaki castle boasts 2600 cherry trees that includes 53 varieties, such as Somei Yoshino, Japanese weeping cherry and Yaezakura.
Hirosaki Cherry blossom festival 2016 is being held between April 23th and May 5th.
