Atomic Bomb Sites in Hiroshima 広島 | Japan Travel Vlog
Hello!
We went to Hiroshima last year in November to explore this place that is rich in history.
We boarded the Shinkansen from Osaka which took around 2 hours to Hiroshima. Upon reaching, we took their public bus - the ride was quite fast, less than 30 mins to the Atomic Bomb Dome and Hiroshima peace memorial park & museum.

George Takei Remembers Hiroshima Part 2 | Takei's Take Japan
[Beautiful Japan] HIROSHIMA Itsukushima Shrine
Itsukushima Shrine (Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture)
A magnificent shrine floots on the water, in harmony with its natural surroundings
Made Governor of the province then known as 'Aki' during the Heian period (794-1185), the great warlord Taira no Kiyomori (1118-1181) made improvements to the existing Itsukushima Shrine, creating a sight unique in all the world, a structure that appears
to float on the waves. It is said that behind the brilliant idea of making the sea
into the temple approach, over and above the island itself (also known as 'Miyajima'
or 'Shrine Island') being held sacred and thus no building being allowed there,
was Kiyomori's great ambition of encouraging trade with Song-dynasty China.
He wished with this shrine to demonstrate the renewal of the country and its connection
with the outside world. The tori front gate is built in a manner which makes it appear
to float upon the waves, welcoming into the deep pocket of the bay all that approaches from over the sea. The main sanctuary connected by passageways and built without walls in the fashion of the residences of 12th-century nobility is in beautiful harmony
with their natural backdrop of Mt. Misen and the vast expanse of sea. This magnificent shrine, the fountainhead of the Japanese esthetic of harmony among all things—gods, nature, people, and the wide world—was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site
in 1996.

Hiroshima - Japan Journey (Part 12)
This video was made in Hiroshima at the Peace Park and Museum which honors those who lost their lives in the atomic bombing which ended WWII. The museum's dark atmosphere and topic will make all visitors contemplate the use and stockpiling of nuclear weapons. It's something that will stay with you long after a visit.

JAPAN Part 6 Hiroshima Peace Park & Gardens
Music from the YouTube Library - Dramatic Swarm', 'Resolution', 'Please' & 'Ferris Wheel'
Thanks to Typhoon Lan, we were delayed by nearly 24 hours and stuck overnight on our express train. But at least we were able to continue the following day!
First stop, and an essential visit when in Hiroshima is the Memorial Peace Park and museum. It's a sobering experience and upsetting when you view some of the artifacts in the museum. The horrors of war! However, hopefully it goes someway to promote World peace.
Later, we visit the beautiful Shukukei-en gardens and Hiroshima's magnificent castle, a bit of a whistle stop tour due to our unavoidable delays.
Then, it's off by rail to the ferry terminal for the short trip to Miyajima Island. We arrive early evening and this place, as we discover the following day, is paradise!

Cycling the Shimanami Kaido Cycling Route near Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan
The Shimanami Kaido Cycle Route links the main islands of Honshu and Shikoku in Japan through a series of bridges and islands in the Seto Inland Sea.
The 70km cycle trail takes you between islands across a series of impressive bridges with special cycle lanes and for added fun there's a network of ferries to help you get back. We rented bikes in Onomichi and set off to explore some of the trail which is a great day out for those who enjoy cycling.

Hiroshima | Visiting the Peace Memorial Park and Museum
During our stay in beautiful Hiroshima we visited the Memorial Peace Park and Museum. We wanted to share this footage with you in hopes that you may find it insightful and that those unable to visit still have the chance to learn about this tragic moment in our history by seeing the museum and historical landmarks for themselves.
Mel originally intended for this to be put into a video for her grandfather who sadly passed away before she was able to share it with him. He always wanted to return to Japan after having served with the British Forces peacekeeping after the tragic events. He spoke fondly of Japan and the Japanese people he was able to meet and this inspired an interest in Mel to visit this beautiful country which she has now fallen in love with.

厳島神社は海上に浮かぶ華麗で荘厳な建物だが、木造建築にとって極めて厳しい環境であろうことは想像に難くない。独自の工務所を持つことからも自然と調和しつつも闘い続ける建築であることがわかる。

The morning was cold, but was hot by spring weather when I climbed Mt. Misen.
