There are Hakone Jinja Shrine and Kuzuryu Jinja Shrine on the shore of Lake Ashi, and it is the lake that I have a feeling awe. Every time I visited here, it was stormy weather reminiscent of the 9-headed dragon (Kuzuryu) legend and the pleasure boats are often suspended all day. However, it was fine on this day and I was excited and got on the pirate ship. Mt. Fuji looked very beautiful from the cabin deck, but I didn’t expect the red torii to be under construction …

Kyoto's Bamboo Forest [Arashiyama] ｜Day 64 - Kyoto
Arashiyama (嵐山) is a pleasant, touristy district in the western outskirts of Kyoto. The area has been a popular destination since the Heian Period (794-1185), when nobles would enjoy its natural setting. Arashiyama is particularly popular during the cherry blossom and fall color seasons.The Togetsukyo Bridge is Arashiyama's well known, central landmark. Many small shops, restaurants and other attractions are found nearby, including Tenryuji Temple, Arashiyama's famous bamboo groves and pleasure boats that are available for rent on the river.

Olden Days Flat Boat on a Canal Lined With Sakura in Kyoto.
This is near the Kyo-Bashi bridge in Fushimi and this River (Uji River) was constructed in 1594. Toyotomi Hideyoshi built the inland river port and modified the Uji River to enable transportation of building materials.
Today you can get a ride on these pleasure boats called in olden times Sanjikkoku. The canal is in some parts lined with Sakura trees.
Both banks of the canal where lined with wharves and timber was the main staple for transportation. In those days the area here was called Motozaimoku-cho (The place for carrying by Horse) and has the same name even today.

The opening reception and talk by Hiroshima blast survivor Miyoko Watanabe as part of the national traveling exhibit Hiroshima-Nagasaki: Images and Stories from Eyewitness Accounts. The exhibit features 30 large posters depicting scenes of the U.S. bombing of the cities in 1945, which includes graphic imagery from before and after the blasts, is an initiative of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. The museum advocates for the peaceful disarmament of all nations possessing nuclear weapons by increasing citizen awareness of the effects of nuclear weapons. The exhibit is part of 101 exhibits on view across the nation.

Japan Shrine in Osaka / music to make it less boring (maybe)
This is the kind of stuff that you see on an average day pretty much anywhere in Japan. You're just walking along and then bam there is a very cool Shrine or Temple right in front of you. You will see all kinds big and small. Now don't just sit there start planning your trip.
This shrine reminds me a lot of Fushimi Inari Taisha, and I'm pretty sure that it is related in some way, but hey, I can't read Kanji. When I find out I will edit this post.

I am a so-called ‘Zainichi Korean Resident of Japan,’ and can neither truly call myself Japanese, nor really say that I am Korean. This positionality has prevented me from having any sense of belonging
in the thing called the nation-state. The pain of people forced by the accidents at Fukushima Dai’ichi to drift and to roam touches the
pain that resides within my very being, born as I was at the endpoint of a wandering visited upon my grandparents by the Korean War. Through feeling that pain, and living together in this place, interpersonal connections are made, and within those connections warmth and kindness are nurtured on a daily basis.
And everyday, I ask myself.
What is this thing called ‘home’?
And what is this thing called ‘the nation-state’?
April 21, 2011 was the day I first visited the city of Minami
Soma, in Fukushima Prefecture. It was also the day before
large parts of the city were closed off from the world. That
day marked the beginning of my ongoing relationship with
Fukushima.
