Thames Barge
Thames barge (RC model) at Hiscutt Park, Penguin, Tasmania, Australia 29 December 2012. This lovely vessel was built by a local modeller who lives in the area. Weather was quite windy with a number of shifts and swirls - this is always a tricky site to sail at. The barge handled all conditions quite well.
Only a single control for this boat - the rudder...... sails are fixed and are self tacking....

Surmount in windy conditions
This is the 800 mm Shunbo Surmount (Mk II version) in rather rough winds, Penguin, Tasmania, Australia September 2012.
Video was taken from inside the car because it was almost too windy to stand up outside.....
This boat is completely standard as it came out of the box - apart from adding some flotation for safety purposes, the only alteration is the tensioning bowsie in the backstay broke and has been replaced with an aluminium one. The hatch was sealed with electrical tape - the boat was completely dry inside after this exercise..... this is a great little boat!!!
