Almonte and Pakenham Waterfalls: Time Lapse
This is a series of time lapses, showcasing several waterfalls in two Ottawa Valley towns, in Eastern Ontario. Most of the focus is on Almonte, the principal town in the municipality of Mississippi Mills in Lanark County. Pakenham is home to the waterfall in the final sequence and is located about 16 km north of Almonte. Both towns are west of Ottawa, Ontario and are located on Canada's own version of the Mississippi River, which forms a deep valley. Several waterfalls are located throughout the area, with some gently falling over limestone steps, while others cascade steeply through a gorge. All images were taken in August, 2014.
Bullock's oriole draws flock of birdwatchers to Pakenham, Ontario, Stu Mills reports
A bird that normally makes its home in California has made a rare and unexpected stopover in the Ottawa Valley, to the delight of amateur ornithologists from all over the province.
Birdwatchers have flocked to the area around an apple tree in Pakenham, just west of Ottawa, to catch a glimpse of Icterus bullockii, or Bullock's oriole.

Almonte, Mississippi River - Ontario
Almonte is a community of about 5,000 people, situated 50 kilometers from Ottawa. Almonte straddles the banks of Canada's Mississippi River, which flows into the Ottawa River. The Mississippi River passes through Almonte in a series of waterfalls and rapids which attracted millers to the area in the early 19th century.

Mill of Kintail - Winter Scenes (February 2015)
Mill of Kintail Conservation Area is a great all-season destination, just northwest of Almonte, Ontario. In winter, the solitude of a walk in the woods can be found there, along a mostly frozen Indian River. While it was mostly frozen, there were some crevices where the sights and sounds of rushing water was experienced. The historic Mill of Kintail structure also makes a few appearances in this video. The scenes were shot primarily along the Riverside and Old Road Trails.
