Herberton Historic Village Pioneers' Weekend 28-29 April 2012
Revisit the golden olden days in a new way as Herberton Historic Village presents this popular annual event.
A field day format over the two days serves to really showcase the unique aspects of this vintage village as experts in their fields make the stores, displays and machinery of yesterday come alive. The village staff have assembled an impressive group of talented people eager to demonstrate, and they themselves are kitted out in olden-day costumes to add to the authenticity and the fun of this event. We suggest you dress in period costume to blend in!
Guests are able to watch the saddlers, the pack mules, see tin panning and the windmill working, the workman's tools in use, the axemen wood chopping, and the garage mechanics bringing the engines of old to roaring life. A barbershop quartet, a brass band and a bush poet entertain and there's even a free sausage sizzle. Normal admission prices apply for Saturday and Sunday of Pioneers Weekend.

Herberton Historic Village
This video gives you are small taste of what you will see at Herberton Historic Village in North Queensland...a very small taste. Google it and find out where it is. If you go to Cairns you should not miss checking this place out.
I had so much fun going here and would recommend everyone and anyone to go check it out. It is definitely worth the drive, especially if you love Antiques.
All the buildings are old buildings that have been moved to the property and as far as I know none of the things are replicas, and are actual antiques (which is really quite rare to see such a large collection).
My favourite parts were the chemist, the school house, and the printing presses. I also loved seeing all the old advertising signs. My mum and dad were pointing things out in each building and telling me all about it and what things were, etc as alot of these things were from when they were kids. I even saw books I had read back in school, which made me feel a bit old at 26. lol. There were kids running around and looking at everything. It was so wonderful to see them enjoying the place and seeing their parents share things from their past with their young children.
Anyway. I hope you like the video and I hope it gives you the urge to check it out. :D
