Historical and Pioneer Society - Inland Empire Explorer
The San Bernardino Historical and Pioneer Society is the result of the merger of two previous groups... The Pioneer Society and the Historical Society. The full name of the Pioneer Society was The Society of California Pioneers, which formed on January 21, 1888. To be a member, one had to have come to California before 1850. The list of members was impressive.
The Pioneer Society included founders of San Bernardino such as John Brown, both Sr. and Jr., Nicholas Earp (father of Wyatt Earp and his brothers), W.F. Holcomb, and many others who built this valley.
In 1901, they built a log cabin for the upcoming visit of President McKinley. He was unable to visit the cabin, but was moved to eulogize the Pioneers for their efforts. They built 3 more log cabins in the following ten years for various events. The last one in 1911 was set up in Pioneer Park where it remained until fire damaged it in 1973.
The Historical Society's legal name was The City of San Bernardino Historical Society and was formed in 1977 as an outgrowth of the Bi-Centennial. The two societies merged in 1982.

Visit to see this 1954 Triumph TR2 for sale from Left Coast Classics in Sonoma California.
Freshly restored, rare and early 1954 Triumph TR2 Long Door Roadster. This beautiful frame-off restoration was recently completed. Beautiful, glassy paint, all new trim, rubber, chrome, glass. Leather interior with high quality fitment and rugs. The correct 1991cc four-cylinder Standard Vanguard engine, tuned to increase its output to 90 bhp has been fully rebuilt and the car is equipped with the desirable factory overdrive.
As a rare long door (no rocker panels) TR2 it has many other features found on only the very early cars. The frame is one of the Triumph factory hand assembled units. The taillights are the early square glass lens styles. The bonnet has the four vents with the visible rivets and the early hood latch is of the early type. The seats do not fold forward as there is no jump seat as in the TR3. The grille is recessed and is of the cast type. This is a true collector Triumph.

Polar Vortex South Haven Lighthouse Must see! Pure Michigan Travel 4K Drone footage extended cut
Pure Michigan The Day after the Polar Vortex ,The South Haven South Pierhead Light is a lighthouse in Michigan, at the entrance to the Black River on Lake Michigan. The station was lit in 1872, and is still operational. The tower is a shortened version of the Muskegon South Pierhead Light, and replaced an 1872 wooden tower. The catwalk is original and still links the tower to shore: it is one of only four that survive in the State of Michigan.
History
The keeper’s house is on shore, 2-1⁄2 stories stall, wood with a hipped-roof. It was also built in 1872, and is located at 91 Michigan Avenue onshore, was transferred to the city for preservation in 2000. The Michigan Maritime Museum has renovated the keeper’s house as the Marialyce Canonie Great Lakes Research Library.
lightkeepershouse
A Fifth order Fresnel lens manufactured by Parisian glass makers Barbier and Fenestre was installed in the lantern.
The current tower was designed by Eleventh District engineer James G. Warren.
The U.S. Lighthouse Service elected to tear down the wooden lighthouse and replace it. On October 6, 1903 ten workers arrived on the USLHS tender Hyacinth and began the project. It took a little more than a month to complete the project. According to The Daily Tribune (October 14, 1903) the lantern room was brought from Muskegon, Michigan where it had spent forty years on duty.
In 1913, the location was deemed unsatisfactory, and the cast iron lighthouse was moved 425 feet (130 m) to the end of the pie.
NEW STEEL LIGHTHOUSE COMMENCED TO-DAY
A crew of ten men in the employ of the Light House service, arrived this morning, from Muskegon, via the Pere Marquette and have begun work on the foundation of the new steel light house.
The Work is under the direction of Edward Guest, superintendent of the Ninth District, and the men cannot say when the work will be completed.
A concrete foundation will be built from the water’s edge, and the stone is being thrown out for that purpose. The foundation will be the size of the present one, which is about twelve feet square, or a little more. It will require about two weeks time after which the men will do some work at Holland then return to complete the steel tower. It will probably be completed in four or five weeks.
The new tower will be the same height about 36 feet from the water.
The Daily Tribune – October 6, 1903
With a new lighthouse we will have more light on the subject.

Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon (Hopi: Ongtupqa; Yavapai: Wi:kaʼi:la, Spanish: Gran Cañón), is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the United States in the state of Arizona. It is contained within and managed by Grand Canyon National Park, the Hualapai Tribal Nation, and the Havasupai Tribe. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited it on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.
The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,000 feet or 1,800 meters). Nearly two billion years of Earth's geological history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. While the specific geologic processes and timing that formed the Grand Canyon are the subject of debate by geologists, recent evidence suggests that the Colorado River established its course through the canyon at least 17 million years ago. Since that time, the Colorado River continued to erode and form the canyon to its present-day configuration.

Northampton, MA: The New Elevator at the FritzWilly's Building
Tonight I decided to ride the new elevator at Masonic Block aka FritzWilly's Building at 25 Main Street. The new elevator replacement was completed today it took 6 months. The old elevator in the FritzWilly's Building was water powered and was manually operated by a hired elevator operator. The original elevator was laid to rest in March 2017 due to water leaking from the piston so it came to a end. The new elevator is a Thyssen Krupp (Baystate Elevator Co.) hydraulic elevator but I'm not sure what fixtures it has. This is my first time riding this new elevator!!! ***UPDATE 11/15/2018*** This afternoon when I rode in this new elevator the inspection sticker was added. In this video when I filmed it there was no inspection sticker yet.
