Исторический музей, Primorsko History Museum

A photo after 100 years is a film based on a documentary story about the Act of declaring the Independence of Bulgaria.
By the means of an intriguing re-creation, but without going into fact details, the authors get together the unified energy of the Bulgarian statesmen, Armed Force, Church and people on the historical hill of Tsarevets.
At the same time the Memorial Day is being developed in the photo-studio of Zdravko Nikolov who is in charge of preserving the public records of the Regional historical museum in Tarnovo.

Thracian sanctuary Beglik Tash 1
Beglik Tash (Bulgarian: Беглик Таш), is a prehistoric rock sanctuary situated on the southern Black Sea coast of Bulgaria, a few kilometers north of the city of Primorsko. It was re-used by the Thracian tribes in the Iron Age.
At the end of the 19th century, the Czech-Bulgarian historian and archaeologist Karel Škorpil produced the first scientific account of the sanctuary, which was then known as Apostol Tash.[1] In 2002, the Bulgarian archaeologists started excavating the place under the supervision of archaeologist Tsonia Drazheva.
Beglik Tash - an expression whose meaning is probably related to the tax on sheep collected by the Ottoman authorities until 1913, the beglik, and a Turkish word to describe an area made of large stones, taşlar[2] - is a natural phenomenon of huge megaliths arranged and carved by a Thracian tribe and later used for religious ceremonies. It is part of a wider surrounding area and a natural rock formation of huge monolithic blocks of volcanic origin, and were formed of hardened magma that erupted from a volcano active during the Mesozoic era.
Most of the megaliths have traces of carvings for the purposes of Thracian rituals. There are also the remains of a labyrinth that visitors can pass through. A Thracian sun clock is formed from huge stones. There is also a 150-ton rock that rests on the ground in only two places, and a womb-cave.
Inside it, archaeologists have found ceramic artefacts from the Early Iron Age (10th-6th century BC), classical antiquity, and the Middle Ages, as well as a man-made stone altar at the end of the natural cave which proves that it was used as a place of worship. Every day at noon, a ray of sunlight enters the narrow entrance of the cave, and projects itself on the back of cave. According to the Bulgarian archaeologist Alexander Fol some of the Thracian womb-caves had the property of letting the sunlight in only at certain times of the day, a natural phenomenon seen by the Thracians as acts of symbolic fertilization of the Earth womb or the Mother Goddess by the sun phallus of the Sun God.
The site is an open-air museum maintained by the Burgas Historical Society. It is visited annually by 40,000 tourists.[3] Beglik Tash is located in the vicinity of two other Thracian sites: the city of Ranuli and the fortress of Pharmakida in the Strandhza mountain.

Under the Sands of Sozopol
Creative team: Petar Nedev, Javad Daneshvar, Ivo Draganov and Georgi Iliev
Under the Sands of Sozopol is dedicated to the 26 centuries history of the existence of ancient Apollonia, known today as the town of Sozopol. We were lucky that during the screening in the Archaelogical Museum in town, there were a joint excibition with the Louvre, which was incredibly valuable for our team. In the movie Professor Kalin Porojanov D.sc. and Dimitar Nedev (director of the Archaeological museum) describe the history of Apollonia, the oldest city of the West coast of Black Sea, founded 26 centuries ago. They also speak about the archaelogical findings, discovered under the sea and the sands. The screening of the movie took place during the “European Night of Scientists” in the Archaelogical Museum in Sozopol on 28.09 from 18:00 h. and, in the same time, also in the Sofia University “St. Climent Ohridski”. On 1.10.2018, it was shown on BNT 2 from 11:00.

Bulgaria HiLites: Nesebar, Black Sea Coast
Nesebar, also transcribed as Nessebar or Nesebur; ancient name: Mesembria) is an ancient city and a major seaside resort on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria, located in Nesebar municipality, Burgas Province. Often referred to as the Pearl of the Black Sea and Bulgaria's Dubrovnik, Nesebar is a rich city-museum defined by more than three millennia of ever-changing history.
Originally a Thracian settlement known as Menebria, the town became a Greek colony when settled by Dorians from Megara at the beginning of the 6th century BC, and was an important trading centre from then on and a rival of Apollonia (Sozopol). It remained the only Doric colony along the Black Sea coast, as the rest were typical Ionic colonies. Remains from the Hellenistic period include the acropolis, a temple of Apollo, and an agora. A wall which formed part of the fortifications can still be seen on the north side of the peninsula. Bronze and silver coins were minted in the city since the 5th century BC and gold coins since the 3rd century BC.
The town fell under Roman rule in 71 BC, yet continued to enjoy privileges such as the right to mint its own coinage. It was one of the most important strongholds of the Byzantine Empire from the 5th century AD onwards, and was fought over by Byzantines and Bulgarians, being captured and incorporated in the lands of the First Bulgarian Empire in 812 by Khan Krum after a two week siege only to be ceded back to Byzantium by Knyaz Boris I in 864 and reconquered by his son Tsar Simeon the Great. During the time of the Second Bulgarian Empire it was also contested by Bulgarian and Byzantine forces and enjoyed particular prosperity under Bulgarian tsar Ivan Alexander (1331--1371) until it was conquered by Crusaders led by Amadeus VI, Count of Savoy in 1366. The Bulgarian version of the name, Nesebar or Mesebar, has been attested since the 11th century.
Monuments from the Middle Ages include the 5--6th century Stara Mitropoliya (old bishopric; also St Sophia), a basilica without a transept; the 10th century church of the Virgin; and the 11th century Nova Mitropoliya (new bishopric; also St Stephen) which continued to be embellished until the 18th century. In the 13th and 14th century a remarkable series of churches were built: St Theodore, St Paraskeva, St Michael St Gabriel, and St John Aliturgetos.
The capture of the town by the Turks in 1453 marked the start of its decline, but its architectural heritage remained and was enriched in the 19th century by the construction of wooden houses in style typical for the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast during this period. It was a kaza centre in İslimye sanjak of Edirne Province before 1878. After the Liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule in 1878, Nesebar became part of the autonomous Ottoman province of Eastern Rumelia as a kaza centre in Burgaz sanjak until it united with the Principality of Bulgaria in 1886.
Around the end of the 19th century Nesebar was a small town of Greek fishermen and winegrowers, but developed as a key Bulgarian seaside resort since the beginning of the 20th century. After 1925 a new town part was built and the historic Old Town was restored.
