CHUYẾN ĐI ĐẾN TỈNH SHIGA-TRAVELLING TO BIWAKO- MAKINO IN SHIGA JAPAN
Japan: Biwako Hall in Otsu, Shiga prefecture (4/5) 2011-03-05(Sat)1452hrs
During the interval between acts of Verdi's _Aida_. Biwako means Lake Biwa, which is Japan's largest lake ensconced in the middle of Shiga prefecture. Biwako Hall by the lake is probably Japan's best venue for opera performances. The view from the foyer is almost like that of Helsinki. 滋賀縣立藝術劇場びわ湖ホール(大津市)。

Autumn Buzz at Eigen-ji in Shiga-ken.
A friend of mine suggested I go to some hot spots for autumn viewing in Shiga Prefecture. The first temple I visited was Eigen-ji (永源寺) in Takanochō Higashiōmi-shi. Although I was early I wasn’t the first to enter. Eigen-ji temple grounds are located along the Echigawa River. Several steps lead up to the main buildings of this famous temple. The Lord of the Omi Domain Sasaki Ujiyori (六角 氏頼) established Eigen-ji in 1361. He invited Zen master Jakushitsu Genkō (寂室 元光) to head up the temple. There are many maple trees on the grounds that draped this ancient temple in splendid crimson attire.
Breathtaking View of Autumnal Leaves at Keisoku-ji (鶏足寺)
Both of the temples of Keisoku-ji (鶏足寺) and Shakudo-ji (石道寺)used to be two of the biggest and mightiest Buddhists Meccas built at Kodakami-yama mountain (己高山) in Heian period (about 1,200 years ago). Since the area was believed most peaceful and divine place, it is said that they called it “Paradise under the sun”. There must have been many Buddhist monks walking up and down the holly mountain so often in those days. But, as time went by, the temples and the surroundings had been devastated day by day, due to some political reasons, and now the temples became the ones with no monks, only the village people have exerted themselves to keep the Buddhist images and the buildings. In every late fall season, however, the idyllic countryside develops into the busiest streets with a lot of sightseers, just like the old Heian days. Yes, the area has now become renowned as the best vista of breathtaking autumnal leaves. I headed to the spot today, since they say that the best season seems to be a bit earlier than a usual year. Though I thought it may take some days more till the peak season, many tourists (mostly the elderly, like me...????) were coming in order to enjoy the natural beauty of the late fall.
Omizo Matsuri Festival 2010 大溝祭
A procession of five ornate floats are pulled around the neighborhood of JR Omi-Takashima Station (JR Kosei Line) in Takashima, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. The festival eve on May 3 has the floats festooned with paper lanterns. On May 4, they pull the floats around during the day. The festival is held annually by Hiyoshi Jinja Shrine. Kongorinji temple in Shiga pref. - Japan Trip in Fall ; Kotosanzan Part 2
No. 47, Three Buddhist Temples on the East Coast of Lake Biwa Part 2 - Kongorinji temple ----------------------- Kongorinji temple is one of the Kotosanzan or the three Buddhist temples on the east coast of Lake Biwa.
The temples of the Kotosanzan are very popular for autumn leaves, so lots of tourists come to those temples in fall. But it seems uncommon to see overseas travelers at these temples, maybe because a major transportation is not availble nearby.
Hikone castle, a major tourist spot of Shiga prefecture is situated relatively close to the Kotosanzan temples, so if you're planning a trip to Hikone castle and if you`re going to take a taxi or public buses, why don't you come to the Kotosanzan temples too?
Thank you. ----------------------- Please also enjoy the following videos of the other Kotosanzan temples. Part 1 - Saimyoji temple

Autumnal Leaves at Keisoku-ji Temple (鶏足寺)
One of the famous autumnal leaves spots in northern district of Lake Biwa (琵琶湖) is this temple. I got up early in the morning and headed there, but the parking lot had been already occupied, since late of November was the best season for appreciating the amazing natural beauty.
