Hiking Kauai, Hawaii - to Ho'opi'i Falls
This video shows the major hiking trail and scenery when hiking the two Ho'opi'i falls on the Kapa'a Stream in Kauai, HI.
HOOPII FALLS, Kauai Hawaii
Hoopii Falls hike is easily to reach in Kapaa. The hike begins behind one of those yellow trail fences off Kapahi Road. Once you turn North on Kapahi, look left for the yellow rail fence 1/3 mile down on the left. The trail is easy to follow and is easy enough for most people. You have two ways to reach the falls. First follow the trail to the split at the bottom of the hill. If Kapaa Stream isnt moving too rapidly just desend to the stream and follow the stream path 200 yards to the upper falls. If Kapaa Stream seems to be flowing too rapidly, follow the trail to the right up the hill and it will then fall back down to the falls after 200 yards. The Upper Falls have a nice lava bench to sit on as you take in the surroundings. The Hoopii Falls are actual a twin set of falls at the top. We watched as one local jumped off the top from both sides. We could see rocks in the bottom so the jumping should be left to the experienced locals.

Makaleha Falls, Kauai, Hawaii
August 2012. Me, Joey, Chad, and Jack hiked up to Makaleha falls. From car to falls took 1 1/2 hours with a 10 min break. The way back we booked it and it took 1 hour. The trail system is a little confusing, but they all end up at the same place, when in doubt rock hop and follow the river. The only confusing part is when you get to the fork at the end and you see the small waterfalls to the left and the narrow canyon to the right. You would think to go left but that just leads to small trickling water falls, the nice one is to the right but you cant see it from the fork. The canyon gets really narrow and the cliffs go straight up. While we were at the pond, a small rock the size of a golf ball fell into the pond, that was our que to get outta there, I wouldnt hang around that pond, even a small rock would probably kill you from that height.
Wailua Kayak Tour to Secret Falls. What you need to know before you Kayak the Wailua to Secret Falls
The Kayak & Hike to Secret Falls is one of the most exciting & memorable things you can do in Kauai. Don’t miss this beautiful waterfall adventure on you’re visit to Kauai.
Is the Wailua Kayak tour good for families? That's not a simple answer. Our youngest just turned 6 years old. Obviously she was no help on the Kayak & the muddy, uneven trail was though for those little legs. My 9 year old was pretty good but it was tough for her as well. I'd recommend this hike for families with kids 10 years old or older.
This was our third time to do the Kayak hike to secret falls, but our first time to do it without a tour guide. I would definitely recommend a guided tour on your first time & then if your comfortable just rent kayaks & do the adventure on your own.
The first time we used Outfitters Kauai. Both times they were excellent. Click on the link below to visit their website.
They aren't the only option though. There are several companies that can guide you. Or like we did on this last trip, you can just rent kayaks & do it on your own. They'll give you a map so it's pretty easy to find the waterfall. We used Wailua River Kayak Rentals here's the link to their site...
My biggest piece of advice though would be to leave as early in the morning as possible because the trial & water fall area gets busier & busier as the day goes on. Also, don't forget to pack a good lunch to eat at Secret falls. You'll need the energy for the hike & paddle back down the Wailua river. The last two times we did the tour the wind was blowing in our face on the entire paddle back & you will get tired, even if you're in good shape.
Other than that, best of luck & have fun. If you're looking for other fun & exciting things to do while in Kauai, please check out my video, Top 10 things to do in Kauai - Best Adventures in Kauai - Must see Beaches, Hikes, Animals, & Tours - here's the link to that video...
HAWAII, KAUAI. WAIPOO FALLS IN THE CANYON OF THE PACIFIC!!
PLEASE CLICK ON THAT LIKE BUTTON AND SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL TO GET AUTOMATICALLY UPDATED ON MY NEW POSTS!!
Today's adventure led us up to Waipoo Falls, which lies deep within the Waimea Canyon on Kauai! It was such an amazing day!! Had the opportunity to meet a lot of new people from all over the world on the trail and took a swim in the waterfall:)
Just wanted to continue in sending my gratitude to all my supporters so far!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH !!:)
Waipoo Falls is the biggest waterfall you see from the main Waimea Canyon lookout looking to the left. If you drive past the lookout a few more miles you reach the beginning of the trail. If you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle you can drive down a narrow dirt road to save you about half a mile of walking. From there you have about a mile to get to the falls but as you are walking you are deep within the canyon looking into it almost the whole time. It is surreal.
As always please be considerate of the island by picking up your trash and staying on designated hiking trails. I would not recommend hiking when it is raining, wet, or muddy. There are multiple places where you are close to cliffs edge and it will be fatal. PLEASE KOKUA

The Awaawapuhi Trail will take you on an ultimate journey as you ascend from 4,120 feet elevation in the Kokee State Park to the valley rim of Nualolo and Awa’awapuhi valleys at 2,500 feet. The trail will lead you through the rain forest, high desert-like terrain and to some of the most awe-inspiring vistas on Kauai’s Napali Coast. Awa’awapuhi Trail is a continual downhill hike from the trailhead to the grassy clearing overlooking the valleys.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL!!! Waterfalls of Kauai, Hawaii in 2 Minutes!!! *MATTHEW CHANNEL HD*
***Music Mix***Hoopii Falls 1 and Hoopii Falls 2 are in Kapaa (a city on the Island of Kauai) and the trailhead is in a residential neighborhood. Happy to help get you there if you need. To get to Hanakapiai Falls, you hike the 1st two miles of the Kalalau Trail on the Napali Coast of Kauai - then, when you get to the river (the 20ft wide one) you follow the trail along the river (while seeing countless waterfalls along the way) until you're at the base of the 300ft falls. You need to start early on this hike as it is 4 miles in and 4 miles out. You don't want to get caught on the trail at night (especially if you don't have a light)!
