Hoam Art Museum by Everland - 호암 미술관

In this episode we take you to the Hoam Art Museum located right next to the Everland amusement park!

This Museum and garden is beautiful in any season. So going anytime of the year, this area will not disappoint you.

All over the grounds you will find stone figures. They are called Buksu and are considered guardians of the village.

The main gate to the grounds is called Bohwhamun. Bo means to take in a preserve what is valuable and Wha means flowers and signifies the art of mankind. The name emphasizes the mission of the museum to collect and keep works of art safe.

This is the museum itself. It was built in 1982 and it’s main function is to encourage Korean people to engage in creative culture. There are many displays of Korean art and history inside.

This gate is called the Moon gate and has images in it’s korean traditional bricks of fortune and flower patterns. It is located on the east side of the grounds so it also represents spring time.

There are many peacocks that freely roam around the gardens. My son definitely got a kick out of seen them!

This is the Hoam Pavilion and is located in a spot for you to enjoy the whole panorama of the main garden.

This field is located right in front of the museum and is often used for art exhibitions and concerts.

Hours of Operation:
Closed on Mondays, Jan 1st, Korean New Year holidays, and Chuseok.
Open Tuesday to Sunday from 1000-1800

Adults: 4,000W
Children over 3 years old: 3,000W
Children under 3 years old: Free
Last ticket issued at 1700
Parking is free

There is a discount for admission to the museum if you first buy tickets to Everland. It still will not be free though.

From Seoul, take one of the following buses :
#5002 at the Kangnam Station,#5700 at the Kangbyun Station,
#1113 in Cheonho-dong, or #1500-2 (via Bounding)
From Suwon or Yongin, take one of the following buses :
#670, #66, or #66-4.

By Free Shuttle Bus

The Museum operates an hourly shuttle bus between Everland and the Museum. The bus departs every hour on the hour from 9:00 to 17:00 from Everland. The returning bus departs in front of the ticket office of the Museum a quarter after every hour.
