Places to see in ( Wurzburg - Germany ) Hofkirche
The Court Church of Wurzburg Residence was Prince-Bishop Friedrich Carl von Schönborn (reigned from 1729-1746) in the years 1732 bis 1733 built in the shell. After extensive completion of the extremely rich interior decoration, the church was consecrated on September 15, 1743 .
The founding date of the court parish is unknown, the first mention of a court pastor dates from 1761 . Since 1840 , the parish is organisationally cared for by the parish of St. Peter and Paul , the pastoral care was the Franciscan monastery . With the reopening of the Hofkirche in September 2012 , the Franciscan Minorites have made the commitment to take over church services to the Dompfarrei .
The Hofkirche is dedicated to the Holy Trinity . Remembrance Day is the Sunday after Pentecost. The festival celebrates the mystery of the divine Trinity - known in Catholic parlance as the Trinity: God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
After Prince-Bishop Johann Philipp Franz von Schönborn had himself convinced by Balthasar Neumann to set up the Hofkirche in the south-western corner of the residence , the plans entered a decisive phase. Neumann, to whom the project was transferred, had the problem of preserving the uniform external appearance of the residence and of considering the layout of the façade with its windows and storeys. The left windowless side of the church space was provided with mirrors, which act as windows by reflection of the light.
Neumann tried to help himself by dividing the room into columns that took into account both the lengths and the heights of the windowed outer wall. In the entrance area and in the choir, these pillars carry galleries and form colonnades, which decisively loosens the narrow length of the room. Although the floor plan with its three consecutive oval rotundas can be seen on the space domes, it is barely noticeable in the design of the room. The color scheme of the room is in dark pink and gold, with walls decorated with stucco marble columns.

Places to see in ( Wurzburg - Germany ) Residenzplatz
The Residenzplatz is a large paved open space in front of the residence in Würzburg's old town. To the north it is framed by the Rosenbach Palace and the arcades to the Rosenbach Park , in the south of envoy building ( Residenz-Gaststätten ) and Hofgarten , to the east is the Residenz and Hofkirche . Along the square leads the Balthasar Neumann promenade and the Rennweg .
Until the 14th century, the area was outside the bishop's hat and was only included together with the suburb Rennweg in the walled area. From 1701, the Rennweger Schlösschen was built in the area of today's Residenzplatz by Antonio Petrini . It was much smaller than the later residence and was due to subsidence in the ground and associated cracking not covered, but canceled for the construction of the residence again.
Until 1821 , the court of honor of the residence was delimited by a curved wrought-iron grille by Johann Georg Oegg . Since 1894 adorns the square of the Frankonia fountain , which is dedicated to the Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria .
The Residenzplatz served from 1933 often for parades and actions of Nazi organizations. In 1944 , the National Socialists faked on the square false, provided with wooden railing streets to the appearance. The aim was to deceive the aerial photographs of reconnaissance aircraft of the Allies.

Würzburg is a city in Germany's Bavaria region. It's known for lavish baroque and rococo architecture, particularly the 18th-century Residenz palace, with ornate rooms, a huge fresco by Venetian artist Tiepolo and an elaborate staircase. Home to numerous wine bars, cellars and wineries, Würzburg is the center of the Franconian wine country, with its distinctive bocksbeutel (bottles with flattened round shapes).
Founded in the 10th century, Würzburg served as the home of powerful prince-bishops for many centuries. It is renowned for the Residence, regarded as one of the finest palaces in Europe and a high point of Baroque art (also UNESCO cultural world heritage). Würzburg is also home to one of the oldest churches in Germany, built in the 8th century on top of a former pagan shrine. One of its most famous structures, Festung Marienberg, is a fortress which now surrounds the church.
Würzburg was the center of the kingdom known as Franconia. In the 19th century, Napoleon merged Franconia with Bavaria, by which the city is ruled to this day.
Würzburg experienced heavy demolition during a 20-minute bombing raid in 1945 which destroyed some 80% of its city buildings. Much of the city has since been rebuilt, though not as painstakingly true to its original architecture as some other historic german communities. Anyone eager to visit this town to study its historic architectural structures should be prepared to see its restored buildings placed next to several post-war modernistic houses. Würzburg has been home to a large US military installment since post-World War II reconstruction. As a result, many of the locals are familiar with American customs. However, as of 2006, the military base is scheduled to close which will cause the city to lose most of its American bases.
Würzburger Residence is one of the finest Palaces in Europe and is famed for its magnificent staircase. It is regarded as one of the finest pieces of Baroque art in the world as such it has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The building was designed by Balthasar Neuman, and the Fresco above the Staircase was painted by Tiepolo, it is reputed to be the largest in the world. The palace has 300 rooms, spread over 3 wings. There is also a Chapel decorated by Tiepolo which is free to enter and well worth a visit
Entrance is €7.50 (€6.50 reduced) 9am - 6 pm Summer 10am-4.30pm winter
Würzburger Residence gardens are situated behind the Palace and are free to enter
There are several old, beautiful churches in town to visit and marvel at, cafes, shops and eating establishments to spend time in as well as taking in a guided tour of the city.
Festung Marienberg. Enjoy the beautiful view over the city and the Main from the fortress' walls which are open freely to the public. The castle's pay-admission museum is a somewhat confusing experience to foreign visitors and could be avoided as it is almost entirely in german. No english language guiding is available. Also note that most of the Marienberg's once very rare collections and interior were destroyed in a fire during the war. Today's interior and the present collections are a sad replacement.
Würzburger Weinfest, one of the bigger wine fairs. But nearly every winegrowing village in Lower Franconia has its own wine fair, so you can visit at least one if you visit Würzburg in summer or fall months.
Africa Festival, one of the biggest festivals about african culture. Mostly about May or June.

The Neumünster Collegiate church is a collegiate church in Würzburg, Germany. The church dates back to 1065. In 1060 Adalbero of Würzburg built a church with a nave and aisles and two choirs in Romanesque style.
From 1180 to 1250 the church was renovated and its eastern section was expanded. The Romanesque west choir was demolished, and from 1711 to 1716 Josef Greising built the west façade in Baroque style.
From 1725 the interior was redesigned in the baroque style by the brothers Johann Baptist Zimmermann and Dominikus Zimmermann. In the Second World War, the church was damaged. From 1945 to 1952 the interior was restored.

Places to see in ( Wurzburg - Germany ) Kapuzinerkloster Nikolausberg
The Capuchin monastery Würzburg is a former monastery of the Capuchins in Würzburg in Bavaria in the Diocese of Würzburg. The St. Kilian and St. Francis consecrated monastery in today's Kapuzinerstraße was founded in 1615 by Julius Echter of Mespelbrunn , Bishop of Würzburg. It was dissolved in 1803 during the secularization .
The Würzburg-based Capuchin Convent recently resided on the Nikolausberg in the former hospice at the Church of the Visitation , commonly known as the Käppele , built in 1748 in the Baroque style by Balthasar Neumann . There he took care of the local pilgrimage since 1749 . In contrast to the monastery dissolved in the city center in 1803, the Capuchins on the Käppele (as well as three other mendicant monasteries in Würzburg) were spared from secularization.
In March 2014, it was announced that the Capuchins, after 260 years, the Käppele leave in mid-October of the same year. On 19 October, the three remaining Capuchins adopted a festive service from Käppele. The building and the plot are to be sold to the diocese of Würzburg

Straddling the Main River, scenic Würzburg is renowned for its art, architecture and delicate wines. The definite highlight is the Residenz, one of Germany's finest baroque buildings, though there's plenty more to see besides. A large student population guarantees a lively scene, and plenty of hip nightlife pulsates through its cobbled streets.

Jahrhunderts in Deutschland.
