Hogenakkal is a waterfall on the Kaveri river in the Dharmapuri district of the Indian state of Tamilnadu. It is located around 125 KM from Bengaluru, 46 KM from Dharmapuri and 343 KM from Chennai. Hogenakkal falls are also referred as Niagara falls of India. If you are looking for the weekend getaway destination from Bangalore where you can have ecstatic driving experience then this place is for you.
Start early from Bengaluru as this is going to be more than 250 KM of ride. We started at 5:30 AM on 12th of Aug 2018 from Bangalore, had our breakfast in Hosur, took couple of breaks for photo-shoot on the way as scenery was very beautiful and finally reached Hogenakkal around 9AM. We enjoyed riding on the hilly and curvy roads but the place was closed because of flooded river. My suggestion is to make sure that place is open for tourist before you visit here.

Hogenakkal Waterfalls | Indian tourister | Dharmapuri | 2019
Hogenakkal Falls is a scintillating waterfall that is located on river Kaveri in the Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu. The place gets its name from Hogenakkal, which means 'smoking rocks', owing to the unique rock arrangement that exists around it. The gushing beauty of this cascade is one of a kind and is often quoted as being the Niagara falls of India.
The Kaveri River forks into multiple streams and falls through multiple steps, making the sight a mesmerising thing to behold. The carbonatite rocks by these falls are the oldest of its kind in South Asia and one of the oldest in the world. Drinking water can also be obtained from the falls, and interestingly enough, the water here is believed to possess medicinal properties, owing to the numerous herbs that grow in its path. Known for its pristine appeal, the Hogenakkal Falls are the prime attraction in the region. Tourists also have options of enjoying the Coracle boat ride from one end of the river to the other, or they can simply find a quaint spot to perch upon and revel in the marvels of the enchanting beauty of Hogenakkal Falls.
