The beauty of Hogsback is surreal. From the awesome landscape that the mountains and cliffs create to beautiful trees to walk in between a hike to many different waterfalls.
I did't get everything done that I wanted to get done, with many more places to visit I will be going back some time soon to make another clip. In the mean time enjoy this for Winter of 2018.

Arboretum Hogsback, Eastern Cape
The Arboretum, garden of trees , or also known as Hogsback Park, is a well kept park with trees from all over the world, including Californian Redwoods that were brought here by missionaries more than 100 years ago. The 39 Steps Falls is an easy 5 min walk through the woods. For longer hikes follow the Circular Walk or the Contour Path, which will take about an hour and a half.
The Arboretum is maintained by the Hogsback Garden Club and is a popular place for wedding photos and even wedding ceremonies.

Jikani community project, Hogsback
When a building in the main street became available this was the perfect spot to start a very needed community project in Hogsback.
Hogsback's own centre for finding, creating, and growing jobs.
It was in response to the frighteningly high unemployment statistics in the Nkonkobe Municipality in the Eastern Cape in South Africa.
Hogsback, a village in the mountains, was no exception. It was urgent that the cycle of unemployment - poverty - depression be broken.
Jikani, loosely translated, means About turn.
It will engage local expertise in the development of marketable skills among the unemployed, including
* Internships for office and business practice;
* Computer Skills;
* Building skills - bricklaying, carpentry, plumbing, electricals, plastering, painting etc;
* Wooden garden screens, arches and trellises made from local timber;
* Needlework- school uniforms, garments, embroidery, soft furnishings, knitting etc;*
* Beadwork;
* Kiln firing of ornamental animals currently made by tribesmen;
* with courses on First Aid and Home Nursing, Nutrition, Further Literacy .etc;
* a Charity Shop selling used clothing, books and household items;
* a Soup Kitchen
* a Laundry service
A long-term goal is to complete the half-finished house on the property and provde a home for AIDS orphans and vulnerable children,
The Centre opened on 1st March, 2013.

Greenpop Hogsback Reforest Fest
To combat the twin challenges of forest degradation and the spread of invasive vegetation, Greenpop, The Cape Parrot Project and Terra-Khaya Family & Eco Lodge teamed up in September 2014 to host a reforestation festival that empowered individuals to be part of the solution. By planting thousands of indigenous trees, as well as removing alien trees and spreading ecological awareness and knowledge, the Hogsback Reforest Fest will begin to rebalance the disturbed forest communities in the area. Join the movement to Reforest Hogsback, one tree and one person at a time.
